Foreman has two legitimate title defenses to his name. That excludes him from top 5 rankings in my book.

I agree. Winning the title at 45 actually got him in my Top 10. Currently he resides at #8. Top 5 can be argued but he never dominated his own era even. Exit, stage right.

The guys who definitely should be ahead are Louis, Ali, Lewis, Wlad, and Holmes. I don’t see top 5 as legit. His case for top 10 is a lot better.

Wladimir over Foreman? For number of defences? Against who exactly? Foreman would ko 10 david hayes for day... I don't see it. And he is in the top 10 hw, no debate here.

Wlad absolutely should be ranked ahead. Foreman wasn’t capable of defending a title 20 times in a row, which is why he has two defenses to his name.

Notice how Povetkin looked like a better fighter as a 39 year old against Joshua than against Wlad during his peak?

That's because Joshua wasn't trying to use Povetkin as a hammock.

Bringing up Wlad's bout with Povetkin, as an example of the former's superiority is simultaneously tragic and laughable.

What’s tragic is when Jimmy Young beats you and makes you talk to God.

LOL - It didn't do Foreman any harm in the long run, did it?

Whereas, Wlad's fanatics are stuck with having to hold up his performance against Povetkin, as if it were a defining moment. (Well - it kind of was - but, for all the wrong reasons).

It bounced Foreman out of boxing for a decade. That’s something.

Of course, it may have spared him the burden of getting washed by Holmes or put in ICU by Tyson.

Foreman is second only to Larry Holmes as my favorite fighter (and I have him no. 6 as ATG after Ali, Louis, Holmes, Holy, and Lewis). But even I think Larry would have beat him worse than Young (for one thing, Larry hit harder) back in the day.

I don't see Tyson putting comeback Foreman in ICU, though I wouldn't have been surprised if he'd stopped him in the late 80s. George started getting better around 1990 and I pick him to actually beat Mike from that time on, ko in eight. I think Mike would have gotten frustrated from trying to knock him out and gotten caught coming in. No way Douglass or Holy knocks him down and Foreman doesn't. Uh-uh.

The prime Foreman mows over Mike in two, max.

Just my opinion, and I have a high regard for Iron Mike (have him at number 10 ATG, above Liston and Bowe). Prime Mike had a ridiculously underrated defense and was as savage as Liston, Dempsey, and Foreman on their best days.

This is just nonsense. In fact, the chance is very high quick Haye would do way better than Jojo-Frazier, as would give Frazier himself a good fight.
That said, the Wlad - Haye fight just sucked, not just Hayes fault.

I respect you as a poster, but this is just way to absurd to even quote it

A monster in his prime with absolute destructions over Frazier (twice) and Norton. The War with Lyle. His losses to Ali and then Young shows a cutie who can avoid the power could trouble him.
But Ali is most people’s #1 HW all time, and Young was no bum with some impressive scalps.
For me a lot of it is the longevity. Two title winning efforts over 20 years apart, unheard of!! An unbelievable puncher who reinvented himself in career number two. Very few would’ve beaten that first version and the old man version was no slouch either. He is absolutely top 10 and in my opinion top 5.

Really? Neither Douglass or Holy had anywhere near the power of Foreman. Unless you feel their hand speed had a lot more to do with the knockdowns, which I can fully sympathize with.

I tend to agonize over placing Foreman or Lewis at #5. Tough call.
