How does Foreman rank without that R10 Moorer KO?

For me definitely a bit lower. The longevity and being able to knock out the defending world champ (regardless of how you feel about Moorer he was the legit champ) over 20 years after being the Champ is huge for his legacy. 2 reigns separated by that amount of time is legendary stuff, to me.

 

I don't rate him that highly. He's essentially a rock-paper-scissors type champion. Sure he can by the scissors cutting through paper but he always loses to the rocks.

 

That’s a very good question and one I’ve contemplated myself over the years. My answer would be lower part of the top 10 or just outside it. As it stands I have him at right around 6 or so but that changes all the time

 

a lot of things actually. I don’t have Bowe as a top 10 heavyweight. Yes his wins over Evander were impressive but the depth of his resume is very shallow beyond that. And if we’re honest Evander was in horrible condition for their rubber match. Foreman resoundingly destroyed great Fighters in Frazier and Norton along with some good notables in Moorer, Chuvalo, and Lyle. He took the gold in the olympics. And despite a ten year absence from the sport and returning at a highly advanced age, proved he could still be a force. Bowe was basically finished at age 29.

As crazy as this sounds ...the kayo of Michael Moorer did as much for Joe Frazier’s legacy as it did for George Foreman

 

About the same. I view 45 year old Foreman as one of the weakest lineal heavyweight champions of all time. But I do give him credit for being able to compete at a decent level.

 

I wouldn't rank Bowe above George overall...but if George hadn't beaten Moorer...

I have George at #6, after Ali, Louis, Holmes, Holy, and Lewis (believe me, I've thought about switching GF with LL many times).

A Moorer-less George I'd place under Tyson...I don't know quite where, because I have Iron Mike at 10 and Bowe at 15.

 

Still high, in respect of his wins in the 70 s but I have to place him higher due to him winning the liner belt at the age he did. He'd be seen as a big what if?, if he'd never come back, least we know how dangerous he could still be at 45!

 

I'd probably have him somewhere around #5 to #8, yeah.
