A sharp mobile Fury can probably beat Sonny.

It all depends on what Fury turns up. I can make a very good case for both winning here.

I don’t think Sonny can intimidate Fury. I do think Sonny can knock Fury out though. I see Sonny landing the kind of right hand Rahman landed on Lennox Lewis as Fury tries to turn out of a corner if Fury decides to box.

I just don’t think it is as likely to happen as Fury grinding Liston down as he ground down Wilder if he chooses to bully Liston.

Fury can bully guys if he wants to. He’s good at it. Mauling and climbing over a smaller guy like Cunningham who is closer to Liston than some want to think. He can break Sonny mentaly as Ali did too. Why not? The evidence is out there.

But Fury is sloppy, so would never entirely rule out Sonny or any ATG puncher. Just As I can never rule out huge punchers like Marciano..but I would expect Fury to win against Sonny 7 times out of ten.

Furry has a lot of ways he can beat Sonny. And he has more heart.

Liston was great and ahead of his time and that fight could go either way, Liston with a knockout or Fury on points...

Wait wait.....Fury is the GOAT now because he beat that bum Wilder ? According to the forum experts Wilder is a bum, 5'9/185 pound guys would stop him in 1.

So which way is it? Liston rolled over twice a glass chinned Light Heavy and then quit twice against Clay.

Mike Tyson is a bum too when ever faced up agaistt anyone too but suddenly he is a corner stone, the ultimate success for Holyfield and Lewis.

I don't see Wilder as a bum at all, but as a great puncher who has less boxing ability than even pre-prime George Foreman. Fury's win is definitely not only his best ever (by a landslide), but a terrific win over a fairly long term, undefeated champ.

The Liston of the 1950s would have been completely unfazed by Fury's bluster. Calmly stalking...unlike Wilder, Sonny had THE jab, one only rivalled by Ali, Holmes, and Foreman (I want to say Louis, too).

Fury does well in the first four rounds, foiling Liston's rushes. But Sonny's jab would have started landing regularly within 5...after 7 the right and left hook combo starts knocking Fury about. Fury is a staggering mess in round 8 and the ref stops it.

With all do respect, fighters like Prime George Foreman, 1973-1974, Sonny Liston, Cleveland Williams and Prime Muhammad Ali, 1964-1967 were in shape, the heavyweights of today look as if they have a Michelin tire wrapped around their waist, or if they are expecting to eat 10 lbs of Snickers, just an opinion. There will be no longstanding champions like yesteryear. Musical chair champions.

So according to you Fury is 2 times the size of Liston because he is out of shape right? Not because his frame is much much bigger and he could add much more mass. This one is the last thing that i could read

Too big, like Valuev was too big? Fury is not a puncher, and will be in trouble when he faces a skilled puncher's who not old. That man is Joshua, who I think will TKO Fury, then all this Fury is a top 5 all time great stuff will die. Never have I seen a man get this type of hype by beating what most in boxing knew was a pretender.

There is also an up and coming batch up punchers. Let's see Fury fight a few of them.

Fury is an incredibly difficult match for any heavy in history, one of his best skills is that he normally does just enough to win rounds. I think he’d be good enough to spoil and decision Liston over 12.

Slightly off topic, but I really don’t understand why you expect a 250/260 pound fighter to look anywhere near as aesthetically pleasing on the eyes as a 200/210 pound fighter. Someone like Uysk looks fantastic, but that doesn’t mean he is going to be more effective than these 250+ heavyweights in today’s game. Only time will tell though

Exactly. This nonsenses Type " David Tua in shape would weigh like marciano" David Tua is bigger than Marciano in shape or not and Tyson Fury is MUCH bigger than Liston in shape or not.
