I'm convinced that a fighter's chin may be more logical then physical.
    Examples.
Shots Mike Tyson took against Ruddock were a lot harder than the ones he took against McBride and WIlliams.
Shots that Ray Leonard took against Hagler & Hearns were a lot harder than Camacho's punches.

It seems possible that a fighter's chin at some point can falter. Not all, but these are but 2 example of guys who once took shots of death, but upon aging ...does the chin falter? Or is it more of a mental thing?

It was a typo that meant to say "A guy who has lost...". (mot Dominic Guinn - haha)

0.00% covers All Champions who were never stopped (+100), they are easily identified since they never been stopped.

It gets harder to know the KO loss ratio with fighters who been stopped

The many world champs that never suffered a stoppage defeat include some with very few fights. Several of today's title holders have less than 20 pro bouts under their belt - so they haven't really had their chins tested over a long career.

But if a world champ has had more than, say, 100 (and sometimes up to 300) fights, I think we can reasonably say, that they have been tested. So those guys (with the lowest % of ko defeats) should be at the top of your list, imo.

So I think (just a suggestion - it's your thread), you should concentrate on a list of all world champs with at least 100 fights - who lost inside the distance less than 1% of the time. That should give us a pretty good idea, of who had the best, tested chins.

Of course there are chins that can't be properly ranked using simple math. Jake LaMotta, for example, is often mentioned as having one of the absolute best chins of all time - even though he with 4 ko defeats in 106 fights wouldn't be placed very high on a percentage list!

That is why they are abbreviated in one entry, they are known since it easy to remember the Champions who never been stopped, the best of them is possibly Panama Al Brown, never stopped in 161 fights.

Brown is actually in 3rd place - after Jimmy Goodrich and Gorilla Jones.

Here are the 11 world champions with at least 100 fights, who were never stopped:

    Jimmy Goodrich 195
    Gorilla Jones 172
    Pan. Al Brown 163
    Joe Lynch 156
    Kid Gavilan 143
    Duilio Loi 126
    Pete Sanstol 113
    Pedro Carrasco 110
    Pancho Villa 104
    Santos Laciar 101
    Carlos Monzon 100

Thanks, first time I hear of Gorilla Jones! The name is too catchy to miss, so maybe I never saw him on the lists because I never researched the Colored people titles era, will need to read more on that era.

Will make a thread for all boxers who never lost on the next thread, with various variables
    • Quantity: Total fights
    • Quality: Title fights KO loss Ratio
