Smith is still the lineal supermiddleweight champ even if was the beneficiary of a horrible robbery last time out. His limitations and status made him a very desirable opponent for Canelo to now face. I'll still give him plenty of credit should there not be any rehydration skullduggery as with Smith already rumoured to be struggling to make weight having that would make this fight a joke of a contest.
Smith will tower over Canelo. He's 3 inches taller than Kovalev. Beating Smith will make Canelo a two weight Ring and Lineal champion so its understandable why his haters don't like it. This is a good fight for boxing fans and also a changeling one for Canelo who isn't an high workrate southpaw like Ryder.
And you're a Canelo sychophant. You should work for the ADL. You would do an excellent job covering up Israeli war crimes against Palestinians.
I havent seen the Ryder fight... but Smith is one of the top legitimate super middles at this time, is roughly in or near his prime, and will have solid physical dimensions advantages over Canelo. For the people crying over this fight and pissing on Canelo for it... I would love to hear who exactly Canelo should be fighting instead. Not a bad fight and props to Canelo.
I'm a big Canelo fan no doubt. I appreciate fighters dedicated to their crafts, and fighters seeking challenges. I also get a kick out of seeing haters cry.
It's a good fight if he doesn't tie one hand behind Callum's back with a rehydration clause. I don't have much faith in him not to do that. Personally I would have rather seen BJS get the call as I think he has the boxing ability to give Canelo fits and being a natural middleweight it would of been difficult for GBP to try to stack the deck with a rehydration clause if the fight happened at 168.
For the kindve money canelo is getting paid he should be fighting guys likw beterbiev, derevechienko, plant
Good fight if Canelo wins he becomes lineal champion at 168 and that would make the 3rd fight with GGG even bigger.
Smith looked awful last fight, but he's still a beltholder so I suppose it will be ok. I don't see Smith giving Canelo a decent fight. Actually I would have liked Canelo to fight Ryder who is a more aggressive boxer but he doesn't have a belt. No belt, no Canelo.
If Ryder had "won" and & Canelo then challenged him for the title, haters would be saying he was cherry picking unknown Ryder!
