Chris Byrd vs Right Hand, I mean Wilder

Chris Byrd beating an undefeated Giant Vitali Klitschko in his prime, helps influence the public opinion, but stylistically Wilder has to be favored because:

• Deontay Wilder doesn't quit
• Byrd can't walk through Wilder Right-hands as he did vs Vitali

Byrd would absolutely clown Wilder. I thought that before the first Fury fight and I think it now. Wilder would be swinging and hitting at air all night and probably end up injuring himself before Byrd could lay serious hands on him. If he manages to make it to the second half without wrenching his shoulder out of its socket then Byrd starts to come on strong catching him with all manner of shots and takes a points decision (assuming the fix isn't in). Wilder never recovers from the absolute schooling he's on the end of and never fights again. Exaggerations sure, but seriously Byrd outboxes the crap out of Wilder.

I could see this going either way. Of course Byrd could outbox him but then again right hand could land.

The book is out on how to beat Deontay and that is to back him up and be physical with him which is not Byrds game. Sure he can still outbox him like Fury did in the first fight but a physical heavyweight that can fight on the inside and keep Wilder backing up has the best chance. His right hand is only dangerous from distance as Fury just showed us.

 

Agreed, the thing about Wilder is he over commits so much to the big power shots that he's totally out of position to land a quick follow up shot. The way Byrd would make him miss over and over again and Wilder's inability to throw in combination would see him out pointed.

If Byrd can have as much success as he did vs Vitali who's so much more skilled, elusive etc, I can't see how he wouldn't out box Wilder and that just leaves Wilder landing a monster shot which maybe he does, but I suspect not.

 

Byrd would outbox Wilder sure , simply because Wilder wouldn't be trying to box him back like Vitali was. People still don't understand why Wilder is so dangerous and hard to beat.
Not trying to win rounds increases his chances of landing the eraser. Its putting all his strengths into one area.

Go play the Vitali fight above and actually watch it. Byrd has cement feet and is standing right in front of Vitali. He only gets away it is cos Vitali telegraphs punches that hit nowhere near as hard as Wilders.

If Byrd stands in front of Wilder like that he is getting slept and if Wilder can get to Ortiz twice , he can certainly get to Byrd. Unlike Ortiz , Byrd has no pop at all to discourage Wilder from swinging haymakers.

 

Vitali was a hell of a lot more accurate than windmill and vits knackered his shoulder missing byrd so much

if he can keep it up for 12 rounds and avoid more than 1 drop, Byrd. Byrd has a good chin despite him drooling against ike

Chris Byrd & Cunningham will read these comments on the forums & launch a comeback...Promoters should always hype a Super Middleweight as the Heavyweight Killer, the fans will always root for the Shorter heavyweights (closer to the Average Joe size)

Vitali got abused for a decade after his shoulder got beaked by Byrd. He was never forgiven until he dug deep vs 6'05" Lennox Lewis....

 

Byrd did like to stand in front of guys, his whole thing was to stand there baiting a lead, slip and then counter. He was so elusive he could get away with it the vast majority of the time against much bigger, taller and more powerful guys. He'd dip under Wilder's wild swings, pivot out, counter then reset.

Maybe Wilder can lull Byrd into a false sense of security late in the fate by being so inept for so many rounds he'd get surprised by something, but I still think that's not likely. That big step in right hand is massively telegraphed and would be seen a mile off by Byrd and Wilder isn't going to catch up with a sneaky right hand counter like he did Ortiz in the first fight because Byrd wouldn't be so easily drawn in like Ortiz.

Fact is Wilder's never beat anyone as proven as Byrd or on Byrd's level. He only has a punchers chance.

 

Wilder would wreck his shoulders swinging at air against Byrd.

 

Byrd is overrated. He was dropped by McCline and barely won a decision. Many thought he lost. Many also thought he lost to Williamson and a well past prime Golota. He was lucky to get the draw.

These were all big guys but nowhere near as dangerous fast and explosive as Wilder. Byrd could play catch , parry and counter with them in the wheelhouse , but thats a strategy that will only ever end in disaster against Wilder.. Doesn't matter if you're Chris Byrd or Tyson Fury.
You stand there long enough and Wilder will eventually land his right hand or left hook.

 

Wilder is even more overrated though that pretty obvious based on his lack of quality wins. Yeah Byrd struggled in fights, but so has Wilder, rocked by Molina, busted up by Duahaupas, dropped by Nichols and Sconiers, needed poor judges to scrape a draw with Fury, out boxed by anyone with an ounce of boxing ability. He couldn't even KO Stiverne in the first fight, he only got him 2nd time round when Stiverne was shot.

Byrd has far more quality wins and is far more proven than Wilder and that's a fact. It's one thing to KO Breazeale or Stiverne, it's another to KO a slick boxer like Byrd and even if Wilder lands, Fury has proven that his power isn't always fight ending.

 

Hey nice fight here. If Byrd could slip and dip while countering effectively enough for the judges, he would beat Wilder on a decision

 

Byrd has been stopped and couldn`t get inside Wlad`s reach.
