In a sane world, that's how we'd do it, but the rankers love to over penalize fighters for a single loss, even if they immediately avenge it. In my opinion, Joshua should have regained his top spot after he beat Ruiz, and Wilder should still be no lower than third. The ranking should go Joshua, Fury, Wilder. Losing to another high ranked guy shouldn't drop you much. Of course, in a sane world the fighters would be graded on their performance, and if they look like crap winning they would go down in rank too.

Sorry, but the likes of Fury and Mayweather can measure much of their success by the use of 'jab and run' tactics as you like to call it. Joshua beat Ruiz 12-0 in the rematch and whichever way you shake a stick at it, that's a conclusive victory against a fighter who has always had a reputation for being extremely durable.

Joshua needs to mix his game up if he's going to have any chance of a lasting legacy in the sport. I'm sure that against Pulev, AJ will put it on him a lot more than we saw against Ruiz in the rematch and as his confidence rebuilds, we'll start seeing more of the 'old' AJ again.

I have to disagree with you regarding Ortizn't. An in shape Whyte smashes him to bits with those body shots, ramrod jab and left hook and both Usyk and Parker outwork him for a comfortable points win or even late stoppage.

It was a thoroughly biblical shellacking for the ages and such a resounding, humiliating and deeply painful loss that not only are a huge number of his fans on suicide watch and reaching for every ludicrous and fantastical excuse they can think of to help ease the pain and bring them some kind of solace, but I think The Ring Magazine needs to seriously consider removing him from the rankings altogether. In fact, the commission should revoke his licence and banish him from the sport given the nature of the loss.

Without his Title Wilder should be ranked on his record compared to the other contenders :

    1 AJ
    2 Fury
    3 Ruiz
    4 Whyte
    5 Wilder

Whilst I don’t agree with your order, I agree with your approach.
