Just because Wilder is supposedly willing to die in the ring, that doesn’t mean his trainer should have to deal with the guilt and torment that would follow him the rest of his life if his fighter actually did die.

no offense to Breland, but what did he do to contribute to Wilder's game plan against Fury? I didn't hear a single word from him in the corner between rounds... only heard jay deas saying "go after him!! move him back" lol which was horrible... Wilder's corner is terrible, all of them... they should be crying because they didn't even give him any instructions on how to beat Fury...

To be fair, what Wilder needed to hear would take a lot longer to explain than the few brief moments between the rounds.

I’m sure he has been told, shown and begged to do things like using hislegs, circle instead of walking straight back, use body punches or an uppercut every once in a while etc. Didn’t listen all them years, wouldn’t listen now either.
“Go after him!” is pretty much all his boxing vocabulary anyway.

then it's too late for him to change... if he hasn't listened in the last 8 years, he's not gonna listen now.. he's gonna turn 35 in october... even if he does start changing, it won't be enough time for when the rematch comes around in July

Wilder trapped himself in that corner and that invited Fury to go in for the kill. The ropes are one thing but to get backed up in the actual corner is something that should be avoided at all cost. You are not getting out without hooking an arm and turning the opponent.

Wilder stood rigid and held up a high guard while Fury railed him with two body shaking punches with more on the way. Wilder's stance then can only allow a barrage of punches most referees see right before they step in and stop the fight. Fury was going to hold him there and rail Wilder with straight punches.

Wilders right hands had no steam on them after the first knockdown. He was getting slower and Fury wasn't. He didn't have a chance in hell of knocking Fury out.

Wilder should be thanking Breland for not only for saving him from further serious injury, but also giving him a somewhat better excuse for a rematch. Imagine if the towel wasn’t thrown in and Wilder got KTFO cold. How is he gonna look asking for a rematch then?

Wilder should be thanking him that hes even in the position right now to maneuver for a third fight.

Had that mauling gone on a couple rounds more, if it didnt permanently ruin Wilder it would have definitely ruined any and all appeal for a third fight. It would be even more unsellable than it is now.

Wilder wants to be that body on his record.
The only downside is that Fury may not be the same again after he kills Wilder.
