Wilder voluntarily retreated into the corner, cowered, submitted to the inevitable and looked like an abused dog fearing another beating from its owner!

Everything about his body language, his behaviour in retreating the way he did, his facial expression said I’ve had enough, get me outa this!

Maybe he had visions of how his brother leaves the ring and didn’t want to be as humiliated as that!
The irony is that Mark Breland is the one that saved him from that fate & humiliation.

 

The last two sentences are great and exactly what Wilder fans should be thinking about doing. Your guy is going to get another paddling in his cash out fight if he can make it through the press conferences without completely unravelling.

Joshua obviously didn’t quit, he was trying to buy time and it backfired. If the ref hadn’t waved it off he would have been straight back out there for more punishment.

As an aside, Joshua destroys Wilder.

No need to watch it again for signs of a 'punch' delivered with all the physical attributes of a drunken pensioner. Wilder had been busted up by a fighter with decent power but not clean KO power. Meaning Wilder had taken a lot of hard blows to the head, which is far more damaging than a one-punch knock out.

As a result, a guy who has been with him throughout his career - and therefore knows the signs better than anyone - threw in the towel to protect the health of a boxer who was in a fight he could not win.

Breland did the right thing and there is zero controversy about the judgment call he made....

 

Wilder hardly ever had his hands at chest level... One of his downfalls in that fight.

 

I am not arguing against what Breland did... Nor do I dispute that Wilder was busted...

 

Wilder has heart and a right hand. That's it.
