    García is catching Vargas regularly with jabs and combos now. Vargas' nose looks mangled and there's still plasma flooding out from his left nostril. García is doubling the jab and delivering shotgun blast right hands, which cause Vargas to freeze up. Vargas answering back with body shots, however, gamely hanging in there. García is able to easily back away from and bat down all of Vargas' combos in meager attempts to seize front-foot control. Vargas dives in with a miss and García pushes down on him and puts his arms up in the air to show the ref he isn't the one initiating any clinches. García is picking off 1-1-2s from Vargas and waiting to pick his spots. Light jabs from Vargas, none reaching through. Big right hand up top does, however, but García was stepping away from it.

    There's some great fights for Garcia at 140 with Prograis, Taylor, Ramirez and Hooker all being pretty juicy, decent money fights and would look good on his ledger as they are all well respected Champions/former champions. Vargas is now a gatekeeper kind of fighter and won't win a belt at 147 and if he was to go to 154, would get busted up by anyone in the Top 15-20 at Light Middle.

    Both Garcia and Vargas are in a damned if you do and damned if you don't kind of situation. Garcia has no place being at 147 though.

    Vargas looked like he was about done in the 8th, but finished strong. Keep your hands up and take the fight to Mikey, use your size advantage

    I'd call that an improvement round for Vargas compared with the 5th-7th, but I can't say I could justify giving it to him.
