What on earth is Joseph Parker doing?

I think Parker needs a new trainer, he doesn't bring anything new in his fights, only has fast hands and good chin. It was fun to watch his career until after the Whyte fight.

Now that he's with Hearn, Eddie may, instead of getting big shots, building him up a bit. Losing against a non-elite would smash his reputation. I guess the Chisora fight will come at one point still.

Don't know why, but Parker doesn't look dedicated anymore. Maybe he's more of a family man and is taking care of his wife and children instead of his boxing career. No clue.

 

Parker-Hunter would be a good gauge for both.

Even the Junior Fa fight would be a good domestic scrap

Parker is still very young by HW standards.

Parker edges it in a rematch, but Whyte will avoid it, too high a risk with too little gain for him.

 

Parker needs to get some fire in his soul. He's just going through the motions at this point. He's young, but he's one of those fighters who's going to burn out early and be in decline by the time he's thirty. He already looks slower and sloppier than he did a few years ago, and hasn't markedly improved his skills in any way. He still fights bolt upright with his chin in the air throwing the same telegraphed punches. Maybe he's like Wilder and incapable of picking up new skills, maybe his trained isn't good enough to teach him anything else.

Anyway, I'm still (kind of) a fan of his, since he seems like a genuine good guy and does have an exciting style at times. But my expectations of him have been thrown out the window at this point. He just seems like he's going nowhere, and seems perfectly content with that.

 

I thought his jab looked much sharper in this fight.

I see him taking Chisora OUT. There is also talk of a Dubois matchup.

 

Both Chisora and Dubois destroy this version of Parker.

 

Don’t blame Whyte. Parker had that fight there for the taking and didn’t do it. That’s on him.

 

Disgraceful match making, I hated watching this fight. That said, I was impressed with Parker's Jab, nice speed and pop. And double/ trebling it up looked decent also.

A lot of recent post fight interviews revolve around Parker not boxing to orders or implementing a game plan with due discipline (he admits this himself). Can't blame Kevin Barry for this but if he is not listening then maybe time to move on.

 

Just want to go to say there are a lot of great fights out there for Parker in that tier below the world champions which I would be excited to see.

Boxing makes no sense 90 percent of the time. The best never fighting the best. All just cherry picking bums to fight.
Then they go and wonder why nobody gives a **** about them.

 

Parker to me is a bit of an enigma. He has top level skills but does not always utilize them. A prime example was against Whyte, where he did little until the final rds, at which time he began to lay a beating on him.

Perhaps a new trainer and a move stateside would help sharpen his skills and improve his focus.
