Tyson Fury is a great (small g), fighter and that is no criticism, it's a strong compliment... he and none of his S-HW peers are elite fighters and NEVER will be, again No Critism, just Fact. Boxing as we know it is 150 years old, there are Dozens of GREATS, Hundreds of Greats and Thousands of greats and they are all Top and excellent fighters, no slant at all, Top Marks Actually... GREATS, Greats and greats, with little between them working down... that is a Compliment! History has recorded Tens of Thousands of Fighters, so Fury and his like should be happy to be found among the greats and that's fine.
I disagree i am underrating Fury and certainly not clearly. My statement (one sentence) was simply "Picking Tyson over Fury is hardly making him out to be "invincible". Fury is hardly invincible or even close to it. There is nothing in that to say i am talking like Fury is a "mediocre guy". I totally agree you have to be "very good" (or possibly better) to beat Wlad and Wilder. Perhaps you are underrating Tyson. He cleaned house for a few years in dynamite fashion, unifying the titles again etc etc. At his very best he was frightening. Fury is still writing his story and patience is called for. Many have ended up with egg all over their face via Joshua and Wilder at this point. The other day you picked Wilder by KO over Bowe and there is "no question about it". That is grossly overrating Wilder.
Why? Bowe was easy to hit and could be hurt by guys who were not even close to Wilder in hitting power department. I think that it is more a stylistical thing. Overall Bowe is better than Wilder but i think that he is one of the most overrated guys on this forum specially in legacy, the only name that he has in his record is holyfield (former Cruiser)and Bowe also lost to him, if you remove holyfield of his record Bowe has nothing, and if you take in count that he ran from Lennox Lewis this fact hurts his legacy even more
Fury is almost 1ft taller than Tyson. It'd be like Haye vs Valuev but Fury has good speed himself and we know Tyson hated being tied up by bigger fighters. Fury by decision.
Bowe was an excellent offensive fighter and most certainly hits harder than Fury. He is also a noticeably better inside fighter. There's every chance Bowe can get Wilder out of there quite early. Wilder has to worry about Bowe's offense bigtime it's not just one way traffic.
It is why i has no problem if anybody picked Bowe to win. Simply i see wilder landing harder and first because he is taller and longer
Ok. Maybe it was just a language difference when you picked Wilder over Bowe "and there is no question about it". All sorted mate.
Well, Bowe definitely hit harder than Fury and was more of a pressure fighter. Wilder couldn't stop him (nobody did).
I agree Bowe was as tough as they come, he took 2 savage beatings from Golota and kept coming. Wilder could definitely shake Bowe but if guys like Arreola, Szpilka, Duhaupas and Molina can make it late in fights vs Wilder so can Bowe. The differences will be Bowe will be dishing out tons of punishment and I don’t think Wilder will be able to take it long enough for his own power to possibly bail him out. In a technical sense Riddick Bowe is light years ahead of Deontay Wilder.
Deontay has the power to floor Bowe, but Bowe had a lot of heart, and was very active coming in. I like Deontay better than any heavy out there today, and want so much for him to come back, but Bowe would have had him imo.
I would favor Mike Tyson to win. But I believe he’d have to be at his best in order to overcome that colossal size advantage.
Fury's jittery too much coffee style against stuck in cement, ancient Wlad would've posed no problem for Mike Tyson who would've shown Fury what an athletic fighter really was. Fury's skills might have been enough to defeat old, 1 punch Wilder, see how he does when he has blinding knockout combination punches coming out from behind the peek-a-boo. Fury doesn't punch hard for his size, his punching power wouldn't be any kind of deterrent for Mike.
