How many past champions from 1960-2020 would have been floored by the punch Fury landed on Wilder in round 3?

After seeing it a few times, I think it was a good shot, but not exactly the type of blow that floors most champions. And if it did produce a knockdown, the vast majority get up with their legs underneath them.

    Thoughts?

Hard to tell. It did land in a good spot just on the back of the ear by a big man. However Wilder seems fragile and clearly never came close to fully recovering. Despite acting not hurt while on the canvas looking at the ref. wilder definitely has chin issues. But that punch may have dropped several champs

We're talking about 275lb man sitting on a punch that landed behind his oppoents ear. That's pretty much the worst place to get hit. A punch he didn't see so didn't brace himself for, which compounds the damage. 'The punches you don't see'

Also this is the same thing that happened when Marquez ko'd Pacquaio. He changed from master boxer to KO artist. Fury and Marquez could always punch but don't always go full out for the KO.

    BTW it was round 3

75% would have gone down? Get out of here, Fury is not that type of puncher. Will fix it to floored in round three. Essentially Fury ended the fight on this one punch, as Wilder could not recover.

Fury weighed in a 273 pounds, but that doesn't make him a puncher. I could easily name 20 active today that hit harder and weigh less.

Are we including guys like Bruce Seldon as a "Champion?" Because if so, then a whole lot of them would have been dropped.
Off the top of my head. Here's guys that might have been dropped if that punch landed in the same manner.
    Deontay Wilder
    Bruce Seldon
    Michael Moorer
    Hasim Rahman
    Wlad Klitschko
    David Haye
    Tyson Fury
    John Ruiz
    Roy Jones Jr
    Charles Martin
    Anthony Joshua
    Tommy Morrison
    Buster Douglas
    Trevor Berbick
    Leon Spinks
    Joe Fraizer
    Floyd Patterson
    Sonny Liston

Probably easier to list the people who could have tanked it.

    Liston
    Fraizer
    L Spinks
    W Klitschko

(Not on that list but still lineal champs: Holyfield... maybe, He took massive shots, but also went down from some light hitters, Moorer was a bit chinny too, Rahman)

    Overall I said about 40%

Sorry you either don't really understand boxing or you're being deliberately obtuse. Fury doesn't normal sit on punches and go for the KO, he did in this fight. Secondly it's not about only power but where a punch lands and if you see it coming.

Would this punch KO 75% of HWs if it landedd on the chin and they saw it coming? No and it wouldn't with Wilder either because he'd already taken bigger punches. Would it cause a concussion if it landed behind the ear and they didn't see it coming? Yes it would.

Underlined and highlighted because you seem to be missing the key point

Probably not on Liston, but I can agree with this in general, I'd also say Liston, Frazier and Klitschko get up and don't have spaghetti legs as Wilder did.

Ya hear that Charles Burley? I see you are a new poster as of late February who has been rather active. Sometimes such posters who come at veteran posters are alt's that were banned under another name. No proof on that, just saying.

My point is you don't understand what's common refferd to as a glass jaw. The punch was legal, and Fury didn't plant his feet and deliver it with full force, it was thrown during the action. If Wilder took it better and got up quickly with his legs underneath him, it could have been viewed as a flash knockdown. He didn't and could not shake this punch off.

Just testing...how many heavyweight champions do you think get up from the blow, without blood and shaky legs as WIlder had. 75% :) ? Do tell.

Try like almost all of them.

Frazier was dumped on the floor by Foreman and kept getting up, he would have been floored by that shot but would have got up and come right at Fury.

He was taking a beating before that, those stiff jabs were messing with his balance and he was tense and desperate, Bruno would have been floored by that shot for the same reason.
