Most likely, my point is more that at no point should anyone think anything is actually going to get cheaper for the consumer.

Ooh...it's getting spicy. Sky vs DAZN..Eddie has a HUGE dilemma here.

And they're going for the Premier League, Sky's most prized possession. Sky will throw the kitchen sink at the PL to defend those rights. So will BT.

Eddie should put UK shows on Sky and US shows on DAZN. He can't get them muddled up because if he does it'll cause major conflict. He can make this work if he's careful.

I'm worried about Anthony Joshua. What do they do, because AJ is tied specifically to Sky. He's even a Sky ambassador or whatever it is. Could they maybe do a joint thing where AJ is on Sky AND DAZN?

This DAZN UK/Sky thing can only end badly. Adam Smith and John Skipper, with Eddie Hearn the referee. Someone is getting knocked out.

Not when they are all competing against each other. Exclusive content is what makes the difference but that means big budget original exclusives which results in price increases.

In America its mad. You have Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Amazon Prime, Disney+ and then add in sport like ESPN+ and DAZN not forgetting maybe an NFL or NBA gamepass and well you are hitting a monthly cable subscription.

Solely to boost annual subscribers as opposed to viewers treating it as a PPV and choosing the one event and leaving it. But you already knew that didn’t you?

On a side note, how good was the DAZN / Matchroom USA card on Saturday night?

Looking forward to my sky bill being reduced if we're now having to pay another fiver to DAZN to get the matchroom USA cards we currently get on sky.

I don’t buy in to the “they’re going for the Premier League”. I think the Premier League as a brand would rather start their own subscription streaming service (probably test it in overseas territories first) before selling it on to someone else.

They won't as that means they would have to stream every game and the PL won't do that as they continue with this silly no 3PM games can be live.

DAZN will go for it but not the whole lot. More like a deal similar to what BT has. For any streaming service to succeed it needs some kind of premier league football.

The PL must be ecstatic another player has entered the market as it will see the next rights fees contract likely go up in value.

I think the rights fees are maxed out to be honest. Amazon became a player this year and actually won a package and I think they were the same as the previous sale.

    They actually went down slightly.

It all depends on how spooked Sky get. If they believe DAZN are a real threat they could overpay.

It happened before when they worried Bein Sport was going to bid so massively overpaid for PL rights.

pretty sure the Premier League already offers a streaming service in other territories. Cant see them ever going down that route full on though here as the TV networks are combined with streaming platforms are paying huge money.

DAZN will enter the race no doubt. Question is will they only go for the deal BT sport has or will they try and get the major first pick of games that Sky has.

    BT sport should be worried.

Do not be surprised to see DAZN side loaded with your Sky subscription. They are already working with Sky in other territories.
