What was Marciano doing at the age that Liston faced Ali?

Clay/Ali was very good at stopping his opponents. He had stopped 15 of this 19 opponents previous to Liston. He stopped Liston. He did not KTFO. The second fight was just questionable on too many levels.

While I wasn't paying attention this thread skyrocketed over 1000 replies, thank you to all who wasted time on this thread for making history for my threads. I dub Gazelle Punch the MVP of this thread, and George Crowcroft the ROTY. Seamus gets DPOY

No wonder @mcvey has piped down. He has posted more Marciano threads than anyone prepared to defend him.

Marciano was way underrated ! Look at Liston's record he lost to Marty Marshall on a Split Decision on 8 Sep 7, 1954 and again to a nobody Leotis Martin Dec 6, 1969. Listen fought really no one other than Muhammed Ali who simply out classed him and made it look easy ! Liston because he is big, black and intimidating was overrated ! I think as a person he was a very kind and sweet man actually but a bit over rated as a fighter-kind of big and slow. Maricano was more flexible, in better shame and had just as much power. Sonny never fought a Joe Louis or Jersey Joe Walcott ---stupid people on these comments aer so predictable --so if your black you love Liston and white you love Marciano ! I disagree ! Marciano was underrated the Greatest Joe Louis admitted he could NOT have beaten him in his prime so that there says it all !!

Here's a memorial page dedicated to Joe Rein. Anyone here who knew him or appreciated him should post on it.
