Which is entirely my point.Which was how would he do at 36, only half trained against 25 years old Spinks? ps He had his last fight when he was 32.He retired 7 months later.
Ali beats Rock to the punch and takes a UD. The ref and doctor think of stopping the fight but it carries on due Rocky showing courage and the heart of a lion. Rocky losee the first 3 rounds then is competitive up until around the 9th. Ali coasts it after the that. Hit without getting hit, the perfect fight plan.
The thing is in a supposedly strong era Ali would not have stayed champion until age 36 so I don't see how a 36 year old Marciano is relevant. He looked pretty awful in his fights leading up to Spinks and I would have expected a top contender to relieve him of his title. As far ad Moore or Walcott goes they aged well and would be expected to thrive in othe erasdespite their age
Only version that can beat Marciano is that from before 1970. Ali needs his legs to beat Marciano and they just weren't good enough in the 70s. Although his durability was excellent. 60/40 Ali
I try not to look at age solely as the determining factor, rather how they perform at said age. Remember, Holmes, at 43 or so, fought a prime Holyfield to a near standstill. Charles, Walcott and Moore were still high performers. In fact, Moore was the reigning light heavyweight champion and beat a prime Valdez immediately before challenging Marciano. If there was an 82 year old fighter today beating all of the best heavies for a title shot, I don't think his age is relevant. He still deserves the shot over the younger fighters.
i got marciano call me crazy , i think marciano is more vicious than fraizer ever was . Ali could cut marciano the only problem with that is that referies didnt stop fights like they do now a days Marcianos work rate and conditioning would just going at ali. Marciano wouldnt care about being technically sound like fraizer was .\ i believe the workrate ,power ,conditioning , and heart would have marciano get the victory in a close fight . Marciano by close competitive
No ofence to Marciano i respect this gladiator but a prime Ali wins this easy, yes a peak 66-67 Ali dominates Rocky. He was the superior boxer and aThlete
