Tonight Fury's nephew fights the illustrious Pavel Sour on the Quigg vs Carroll undercard, coming of a decision loss to Povetkin about half a year ago. According to Hughie and his father/trainer Peter, they believe he can still become a world champion and "ticks all the boxes" to make that happen. To be fair, he only lost by decision to Povetkin, Parker and Pulev, who are all regular top10 heavyweights. But besides that he has never beaten anyone above Kassi/Rudenko level either.
Hughie is barely Euro level tbh. Nothing wrong with that, he just doesn't possess enough offence to trouble the better guys in the division.
Never really understood the fuss about Hughie, and suspect he'd be barely talked about if he wasn't a Fury...
He ran from DDD after winning the British he’s got wilders frame with no power. Decent jab. Chin ok yet rarely tested. he can eventually challenge for a title managed correctly. But could he beat the like of Dominic Breazeale or whyte. Doubtful
In his defence, Hughie may just not have enough power for this division, but he's also been unlucky. There's not a big promoter behind him to smooth the way / fix stuff, so he's had to take risks other fighters haven't. Fighting away from home for instance, he took the Pulev eliminator in Sofia when bigger names ran scared and if it hadn't been for a terrible cut that could've turned out differently? Also, granted against domestic level opposition but this was a beauty: This content is protected
What he was offered to fight joshua was laughable absolutely laughable and he would of if the money was right
