If you consider Helenius TKO4 Kownacki a massive upset... don't.

I thought Ytalo Perea might beat him. (who was a solid amateur, but failed in the pros.) Then I thought Rodney Hernandez might snatch his 0. I also remember picking Szpilka and Kiladze over him too.

I didn't pick against him this time, but yeah, Kownacki was always waiting to be exposed.

It's not a massive upset, but it is a decent upset.

Kownacki was a solid top 20 guy -- he had too much success to say otherwise. Did I think he was going into top 10? No, but still solid top 20.

Helenius was more like top 50 maybe.

I did see Kownacki getting beat by someone in the near future, but I didn't think Helenius was the one to do it.

    - Bloodied & stunned against Kiladze
    - Lost the second half of a 10 round fight to Martin.
    - Allowed to get hit a ridiculous amount of times against a very poor Arreola.

The warning signs against poor opposition were there that he was going to get exposed sooner rather than later. Just like they were there with Wilder (Nicols, Scroniers, Molina, Washington, Spzilka and Ortiz).

Kownacki is benefactor of a large powerful promotion in PBC and the fact that he's based in Brooklyn.
Do we even know if he could beat someone like Kabayel or Nathan Gorman?

This is my take too. It's not a huge upset, but it was an upset. Most of us thought Helenius was totally washed up, particularly after the Washington fight.

I'm pleased for Viking Rob, though, and likewise I feel bad for blubber boy Kownacki because he's a very likeable guy and a nice chap and he took his loss like a man.

Too lazy to train properly both skill wise and physically too. I don't have much sympathy for him.

I remember Dave Allen saying Helenius is one of the best he’s ever sparred for a couple of rounds but can’t keep it up and is then very poor.

Kownacki is overrated and should've taken the Joshua fight if he's out for money. But he's not bad. This loss may have opened his eyes what to work on more. I wouldn't write him off, nor would I hype up Helenius now. It was a good match up for both.
