Yeah, ff he fights the right fight and don't mind being a bit cautious and "boring" for the first 1-2 rds. If he tries for a highlight reel kind of fight he might be in for a rude surprise. As for example Whitaker found out, Romero is always dangerous.
Izzy will pick him apart, his reach will keep Yoel so far away his explosions won't get close, he will get frustrated by it and Izzy will damage him with kicks and punches from a distance. Whittaker showed you can keep him off ny constant pot shotting and he has no where near the stand up or reach Izzy has. Still amazed how stupid Rob fought against Izzy running in with head up trying to engage a world class Kick Boxer with a long reach.
No it`s on BT sport in the UK, looking forward to seeing Khabib v Fergie for free too, MMA fights aren`t PPV in the UK apart from some of McGregors fights.
Romero can only blame himself. His gas tank was still there in round 5. Yet he didn't attack and take Adesanya down, or attempt more than a handful of strikes. You can't win like that.
In the UK and decided not to stay up for the fight and instead watch it later in the morning... Then heard about how abysmal it was so safe to say I've given it a miss.
Yeah it was a terrible fight. Romero should have completely emptied his gastank in rd 5 but he didn't and basically did nothing the whole fight. I though Adesanya won the fight by doing just a little bit more than Romero throughout. Hope Romero never gets another shot after that performance and previously missing weight in 2 other title shots.
I was fresh at the end of five. That he didn't try more takedown attempts on a guy who is taller and relatively scrawny in conparison was mind boggling. Romero even backed off on one occasion when he backed Adesanya up against the cage. Romero fought in a manner that didn't make sense for someone to be trying to win the fight. He knew he was getting outworked.
