Apparently some think that Lyle's chin would stand up to the same beating and he would not be stopped.

He had a very good chin for short range fights. He took some tremendous punches from Earnie Shavers and was even decked once before rising and stopping The acorn later ( very underrated fight btw. ) we also saw the historical slugfest between he and Foreman... but I think he sometimes began to fade later in fights and could be worn down. Would he see the final bell against Evander and Douglas had he taken the beatings Tyson was taking against those men ? Perhaps but I’m leaning towards no.

Whilst I think Lyle had a sturdy mandible, I don’t think it was in the same league as Tyson’s. I think Mike’s chin is often underrated. It was his pea heart/mental fortitude that was his main downfall, not his whiskers.

True. He did manage to take hard punches from Bonecrusher Smith, Frank Bruno and Razor Ruddock while ultimately triumphing in those fights. People can say what they want about those men but despite whatever shortcomings they had, they could all punch

No one can know. He was a tough man.

He fought Ali, Shavers, and Foreman back to back in that order.
Give him the benefit of the doubt.

I have no doubt that he could take a single, hard shot from Douglas or Holyfield, but could he take the long beating without being stopped is my question

Mike was hurt badly by Smith, but Lyle took shots from Foreman time and again, more punches were coming at Lyle from George than were coming at Mike from Smith, it was the same with Ruddock and Bruno, Frank only landed one good shot and Ruddock only landed in spurts.

Shavers was very sloppy v Lyle and tired badly, Holy and Douglas were throwing sharper shots at Tyson with more accuracy.

Tyson was horrible in the douglas fight and this fact made Douglas look super man but it is a total nonsense, so first of all i think that a prime Lyle would not take any beaten by buster douglas. In fact is He who could pretty well stop Douglas. Holyfield is a different history.

Dougas had a better jab than Lyle, but that`s my point, even though Douglas was landing many solid shots before eventually landing that sweet uppercut, most of punches were jabs, not all his shots that night were hard compared to the bombs Foreman threw at Lyle.

He was caught unaware when the fight was practically over. It's not like he was staggered in the middle of a firefight. And if Lyle was caught unaware by the same punch, it's safe to say he'd be staggered or shook.

He got stopped by a past it Ali so I think Holyfield and Douglas can stop him if they're giving him a sustained beating, yes

This "past it" Ali kicks the ass of 96 Holyfield and Buster Douglas
