Brewster does get credit for beating Wlad, but he did win a fake belt (the WBO) which I had forgot about. You're be proving wrong again about Kownacki. How do I know that? Just look at your previous comments on Kownacki for proof.
Credit to Helenius, he was landing big shots through out. No one can say it was a freak shot kownacki never recovered from. Helenius also showed himself to be a pretty clinical finisher in this one.
I like Helenius but he really is close to shot, was blowing out of his ass and didn’t have too much left himself. Kownacki’s physical appearance was a disgrace for a pro athlete and his total lack of a defence means this will be the first of a few stoppage losses.
I don’t think he looked particularly clinical to be fair. It was all fairly scrappy. Just one of those things whereby a big shot lands and the other guy doesn’t recover. Given Helenius isn’t getting a title shot any time soon you’d imagine a rematch might take place. Kownacki looked dreadful if you ask me. Both are absolutely miles away from Joshua and Fury.
So, Kownacki stops Washington, who stops Helenius, who stops Kownacki. Kownacki getting starched isn't a huge shock with his style. Him getting starched by Helenius is though. Just before the fight started I thought to myself "he's a big old lad is Helenius and not a feather fist but even Kownacki isn't going to be bothered here". Well, charade you are. Funnily enough, if the first KD is ruled a KD and Kownacki takes a count, I wonder if his head clears enough for him to get back into the fight. I thought this myself. Also the one which was ruled a KD he jumped back up within a second or two, it was amateur of him really. He needed to take a knee and get himself together. I’m assuming it was the first knockdown of his career? So he just panicked and jumped straight up.
I believe so and you're absolutely right, he was way too quick to get back up. Crazy to think we're going to see Pulev-Helenius for the WBA, WBO and IBF titels at some point.
Kownacki, Martin, Washington, Helenius are all on the same level. They can win or lose against each other. None of them are real contenders. I'd throw Jennings into that group too.
He looks one dimensional to me, he doesnt strike me as intelligent as they type of fighter to evolve and develop himself... just doing what the trainer tells him. Other boxers win or lose still go back and find things to work on, they show improvement in every fight... they show boxing IQ.. not just run at an opponent and wear him down every time... that is a BS tactic... Kownacki turned professional in 2009, so I wouldn't hold out much hope of him bouncing back from this defeat as any sort of significantly improved fighter in any big way. It's heavyweight boxing, so if he's put in the ring with someone legitimately rated he's got a chance to get a big win. I never had him as a real contender anyway, and losing to a washed-up Helenius just underlines that feeling.
Reminded me a bit of Tony Thompson vs Price in terms of hot prospect vs older pro who is supposed to be over the hill.
It's possible to bounce back from a big loss and proceed to take the division by storm, look at Dillian Whyte. How likely is it though? Highly unlikely because Dillian Whyte is special. Good luck to Kownacki, if you want to learn how to bounce back study Whyte's development.
Robert Helenius, an ageing version, is no sprightly Anthony Joshua though. Kownacki hasn't got enough about him, also ran at best is all he'll ever be.
