Poor Man's Berbick is pretty strong. One could say the opposite....that Berbick was a poor mans Lyle.

Berbick couldn’t even beat Leroy Caldwell. Lyle was streets better than him.

Your stepping out on faith here. Tyson is gonna climb off the canvas and take out the man who put him there? He might have been able to do that preprison but after he cameback...hell to the no. Mike was more WWE than WBC.

I never thought much of Berbick, he had good timing and Lyle would have been a tougher opponent than Berbick in my opinion - I see both men losing to Tyson but Lyle was better than Berbick IMO

I agree with that, Lyle was a better boxer than is generally acknowledged but Tyson is by far the favorite 4-1 but he could have dangerous moments

I never thought much of Berbick either. But to be fair, he did go 15 rounds with a prime Holmes (though he was miserably dominated in a fight that really showcases a textbook example of utilizing a heavyweight jab). Tyson fought the guy six years after.

But yeah, Lyle was better. In fact, Lyle in his prime probably would have been WBA champ (I doubt Weaver could have taken that kind of heavy punishment, Lyle was significantly better with his left hand than Coetzee and just plain much meaner).

Going distance and lost to Holmes not only in the ring but on streets when Holmes beat him in stretfight!Berbick beat washed Ali!Was beaten by journeyman Douglas also!
Weaver was good and Tyson avoided him during 1980s just like Spoon and Page!
And Lyle had much better wins than Berbick!
