He's fought one of the best in history... And embarrassed him.

    AJ gets stopped.

A year or so back a tribe of Himalayan Sherpas bred a species of goat exceedingly large in stature, yet incredibly nimble on its feet, perfect for navigating mountainous terrain. This isn’t well know but the Sherpas are huge fans of heavyweight boxing, therefore this fine beast is referred to locally as the ‘Tyson Fury Goat’. I believe this is what the OPs handle refers to.

No. Joshua cannot 'box' Fury and beat him. The implication behind the term 'box' as a game plan is use superior footwork/movement, defence and jab while taking advantage of a higher ring IQ to execute those skills. In all these departments Joshua is a clear second best to Fury.

AJ needs to trade with him and back his hand speed and combinations to be better than Fury's and that he can do this often enough to get the stoppage.

I’m a fan of Tyson and for me it’s too soon to start with any goat or atg talk. If he stays focused, disciplined, doesn’t go off the rails again, and cleans out the division? Then yes he can start to be talked about with other atg’s.... it’s too soon. But he does have tremendous talent and untapped abilities that it seems Sugar Hill and Andy Lee might be the last needed ingredients to complete the cocktail. It’s all up to Tyson now.

I wouldn't say he ''walks down'' any HW in history. Let's not go overboard here and act like him abandoning the Slick Gypsy style in order to take it out of the judge's hands and administer a biblical shellacking to that useless dosser from Tuscaloosa and heap maximum humiliation upon him on his own soil is going to be a permanent thing. Sure he very easily could walk down every HW in history if he wanted to employ that game plan, but a gypsy never plays the same hand twice and he'd definitely delve into his box of gypsy tricks and switch things up to keep his opponents guessing.

I think Joshua could use Fury's speed and movement against him. Wilder managed to score one of his knockdowns by manipulating Fury into a corner. Wilder did that by accident. Joshua could do it on purpose

Wilder did that by accident :roflmao:

I didn't spot that. I think we can agree AJ will be waiting for 'moments' in the fight to impose himself rather than dictating the pattern of the fight. Then he needs to make those moments count and somehow stop Fury, either with one monumental attack or an accumulation of a number of them. It's not an impossible task, but a long shot. Fury is easy enough to put down, but it's really hard to keep him there. Round 12 of the first fight is more likely to give AJ nightmares than Fury...

Yeah Wilder achieved both knockdowns by doing what he doesn't normally do. The first one by maneuvering Fury into a corner. Fury then invited Wilder to hit him, got what he asked for. The second, Wilder planted his feet and hit Fury with a pretty powerful shot.
I don't think so. See, Wilder headhunted Fury. He never hit him to the body. Fury's a big guy. AJ would hit him to the body. If he could do that plus do what Wilder did, I think he could keep him down.

    I never said he could.

I said Fury will box him, of course. You're not mauling a technical powerhouse, you'll be taken out.

How has Fury suddenly become an offensive come forward super maestro for beating a so so cruiserweight belt holder and wildly poor heavyweight belt holder with those mauling tactics?

    Odd to say the least.

Gotcha. You said 'he' when you mentioned who would 'box', so it wasn't really that clear who you meant.

Powerhouse, agreed. And yeah AJ has decent technique....

Maybe early in the fight but in round 12? AJ would have gassed before then. His win window is approx rounds 1-6. After that Fury's far superior engine would be too much for him. He was gassing vs Takam and he won't risk coming in under 240llbs like he did vs Ruiz 2. Rock and a hard place...

I love your dedication to Fury man. Its like the forum has a direct internet connection straight into your thought process and all powered by a perpetual motion machine. Fury has ancient irish giant DNA, its why he's drawn to Morecambe
