Roy sub 175 had absolutely everything. Ko power, speed, reflexes, ring iq and a killer instinct. Closest thing to Ray Robinson we will ever see

Whitaker’s jab, distance, and defense were superior to anything Jones could do period.
I’ll take Whitaker over any lightweight alltime based on those 3 things combined with his stamina and durability.
Light heavy Jones gets kod by spinks. Superior jab, awkwardness, power.

    Jones by a distance.

Roy is beyond Pernell in terms of physical gifts as in speed, reflex & power.

Pernell's gift IMO was his thinking game & timing. Timing allowed him to clown people with the dipsey-do.

    Power goes to RJJ
    Speed goes to RJJ
    Reflex goes to RJJ

What Pernell did to perplex JCC was a different gameplan in how he perplexed DLH. given he didnt get the win..scorecard globally begged to differ. DLH wanted to rematch, Arum said oh, no.

Roy was so bad, so fast...he never got hit for us to even know if he had a chin...whereas with Pernell, most forget he developed his counter punching style overtime, just watch him have a str8 up fight with Roger Mayweather and beat him up.
    This content is protected

    That means
    Chin goes to Pernell
Footwork goes to Pernell- Roy ran from one side to the other, then covers up as he lays on the ropes, Pernell could pivot, twist, shoulder roll & take one maybe 2 steps and he is out of harm's way..that IMO is footwork & Gr8 Balance.
Fighting the best of one's era goes to Pernell.

As in Jose Ramirez, Azumah Nelson, Buddy McGirt,Greg Haugen, Julio Cesar Chavez, DLH. And when he was past his best, his fool azz still took on the best aka Tito. Roy past his best was fighting overseas a place he swore he wouldn't fight...I mean the dude fought a friggin fan, why Roy?:( That is not fighting the best, that is not the mind of a man who thinks he has his physical gifts still intact.

I agree with this, but this doesn't make him more physically gifted.

Sweet Pea was at the apex of high skillsets, in no way does Roy compare to him, Roy was definitely more physically gifted though.

Natural skill, I have to go with RJJ over Sweet Pea it anyone for that matter. Prime Roy was a freak of nature. Sweet Pea was no slouch and was very physically skilled.

Ring IQ and overall boxing skills, especially defensively, goes to Sweet Pea. A bigger version of Sweet Pea would have given Roy all he could handle. Two of my all time favorites in their respective primes. Sweet Pea was incredibly smart and crafty and Roy was like a tiger, so fast and dangerous. Prime versions of either guy would give any ATG a tough fight or an L because these guys were both great fighters.

Roy was more athletic and physically gifted. Pernell was a technically more sound boxer.

Roy had more of the natural gifts. Pea was the better, more skilled, boxer.
