It’s going to spread no matter what, they accept that. The plan is to just slow down the speed in which it spreads so that it doesn’t impact too hugely on medical services etc. A bit like spreading your weight on the ice rather than one small spot.

They reckon 80% of the population will get it...chances are some of us have already had it and brushed it off without realising. Personally, I think there’s a touch of the emperors clothes about the whole thing, nobody wants to say it’s not actually that bad and end up looking stupid. It’s the very old and vulnerable that need to be protected from it. That said, you’d want to protect the very same people from other virus’s too, like flu.

What bothers me about all this is the global economic effect, which could be similar to 2008. I was surprised to learn that 10% of the global economy is based around tourism. Basically, it’s the indirect mortalities this causes rather than the actual virus itself.

Why on earth did my first post get moved to another thread?

 

I’m not too bothered about getting the virus itself, and I doubt many people really are. For most it’s mild, for a small number it’s pretty nasty, and unless you’re very old or have significant health problems you’ve got a massive chance of making a full recovery.

My only worry is the general idiocy of the population. People are just generally pretty dense and we live in a time when the actual government are using lines like ‘people are tired of experts’ as though that’s something that garners favour. It’s going to get a lot worse, but I can’t help feel there are going to be a fair few who, when the times comes when we’re locked down, end up being the people who know it’s no worse than flu and contribute to it continuing to spread.

Tell me, how does the market crashing - as it does somewhat regularly - then make the leap to society becoming cashless? How do they solve the issue of people with no bank accounts? How do they account for all the cash that currently exists? Who are 'they' and where do they find the time to make these evil plans?

On topic a bit more, I suspect they could still make an ok wedge doing it with a much smaller crowd and keeping the PPV price. Think Frank was saying as far as he's concerned it's still going ahead.
