Claressa Shields says she is the star of women's boxing over Katie Taylor

Clarissa shields is the best female boxer in the world that's for certain

 

Doesn't matter. No one's beating her. I'd bet my retirement

 

Taylor didn't look very skilled when she got a gift in that fight awhile back.

 

Shields would beat the **** outta taylor. Taylor isn't that skilled and was exposed already.

 

The geniuses on this forum thought Hammer was going to beat Shields and easy.

Not sure what the heck those people were seeing.

"We see what we want to see." I feel applies to boxing fans much more than other sports.

 

That'll be why your ratings keep sliding even as your fights (ostensibly) get bigger. Because you're such a big star.


This is akin to debating which is the more polished of two rather smelly turds. TV networks need to stop trying to manufacture interest in this stuff, nobody really cares. Even women think the ladies' sport is rubbish and only want to watch the men.


If i'm Ant Crolla, I'm darned if I'm going to be pleased with Eddie Hearn making Katie Taylor the headliner over me when I'm putting the thousands of local fans' butts into seats at the Manchester Arena, just to make it seem like she can pull a crowd in England when we all know she can't. If womens' boxing were a marketable product, if Katie Taylor had any potential to appeal to the masses anywhere outside Ireland, there wouldn't be a need for such tactics.

 

Boxing fans engage in a lot of wishful thinking, especially when their emotions get involved...

 

He isn't as good as he thinks he is.

 

Shields fights a couple divisions above Taylor. Obviously Shields would beat Taylor. I don't watch much womens boxing but I would imagine that there's a much deeper talent pool in the lower weight classes where Taylor resides.

 

I just can't enjoy women boxing. It's of absolutely no interest to me. I find it like the WNBA - a low-budget/U-17 version of the real thing. I do enjoy women's MMA though. I don't know why. Perhaps because it feels like an actual fight rather than the vibe I get with the former; brawling kangaroos.
