Fury offsets his proclamations (as did Ali) with a world of personal charm and eccentricity that Shields does not possess. It may seem unfair, but you've either got the stuff to pull it off or you don't. Self-awareness goes a long way.

I personally dislike Shields but she is a much better fighter than Taylor. Obviously h2h but even p4p.

Taylor might be a bigger star but very overrated fighter. She surely gets an absolute ass whooping soon. Not just a beating like against the smaller chick she tried to weight bully.

Being a draw/star is good for the $$$ but doesn't make you great.

 

Yeah, I get what you’re saying, but we all gravitate to or root for fighters we like (as well as vice versa), at least to some degree or other. It’s easy to see why a lot of people find Shields a difficult character to get behind.

 

Taylor should already have one L. Is she ever going to rematch that girl?

That isn't the same as saying nobody in her weight range can beat her. If you call somebody the best male or female boxer in the world, you're saying p4p, implicitly.

 

She joins a long list of boxers who have repeatedly showed some combination of despicable, ignorant, arrogant, or in some way prejudice views.

So what?

Floyd, Pacquiao, Joshua, Fury, countless more are in that same exact boat or much worse. Don't forget Muhammad Ali who nobody ought to "like" as a person based on many things he has said.

Carlos Monzon killed a woman, Joe Louis apparently was a woman beater... What can I say, they are two of my absolute favorite boxers.
