Yes similar but that Louis couldn't pull the trigger anymore having only a 30% KO rate in his comeback career. Louis did still did outbox him for a few rounds. Prime Foreman has much more ferocious attack

Also Louis best weight was probably below 210, where as Foreman's best weight was 220-225lbs

Oh yes, Joe Louis was no longer a great fighter and I agree he was entirely different to George Foreman who I think was 217 against Frazier. I was just using the size comparison, that was all.

I believe that version of Joe Louis was still about as good as Trevor Berbick or Ron Lyle. Nothing like his best but still capable elite level guy. Foreman was better of course.

I'd compare that version of Louis to a comebacking Foreman looking at these fights. He'd lost his speed and ability to put combinations together much look old George but still had the heavy jab, size and solid foundamental technique.

Apparently the commentator is wrong, this is the first Brion fight:

I do wonder if 70s era boxers like Foreman used steroids because there is a cear physical advantages over the old timers. We know the reason they bought in doping laws, in the late 60s if I remember correctly, because everyone was at it.

I need what? An ancient guy with overweight for the age with narrow shoulders and skinny frame. Stop talking nonsenses. Foreman was a bigger stronger and heavier man than Joe Louis does not matter what you invent

yes, Louis was decent enough to win the kinds of fights old Foreman did.

This is a good point. I think there was a noticeable spike in weight increase about that time. Could certainly be possible.

I never said so my friend. What i said is that the old overweight Louis who weighed 213 pounds was not comparable to a prime Foreman who weighed 225 pounds and was lean. Foreman was a bigger man than Joe Louis and could carry much more weight

He was not comparable as a fighter. But He was comparable to the size of Foreman.

Think about it my friend: joe Louis 6’2” 213lb against Rocky to Foremans 6’3” and 217lb against Frazier?

One of them was overweight at 213 and the other one was drained at 217. Foreman was 6'3 1/2 and Louis was not even a full 6'2. I was talking about size.

That’s okay if your talking about size. I’m talking about it too. Four pounds and one inch difference is negligible. In fact four pounds and one inch is inarguably negligible.

The difference in size is similar to a legitimate number one contender Marciano knocked out. True or false?
Certainly Foreman is better than old man Louis, but so far as height and weight and legitimate rating goes these things are inarguably comparable. inarguably!

Louis weighed as much as 230 when he fought in an exhibition but always trained down to around 210 because he had to expect 15 rounds at the worst - Boxers didn't believe in weight lifting then so fighters were conscious of their weight. I think heavyweights especially should put on a bit of muscle (as long as its natural) but these days they come in too heavy - a 6'9 guy like Fury can carry 265 but for a 6'2 guy like Adam Kowalski its extra luggage and other guys are juiced- I can only imagine what kind of beast Joe Louis would be on the juice
