(Prime for prime) I pick Joe Frazier to win by KO/TKO, Jersey Joe is one helluva fighter, and his awkward style could give Frazier some trouble. I don't think Jersey Joe could KO Frazier, one of the toughest boxers ever. Especially if you take Frazier on the night he beat Ali, which was probably his best night ever. Eventually that left hook is gonna land, I see Walcott going down eventually. IMO Frazier could beat any of those dudes pre-1960s, stylistic wise I don't think they'd have an answer for him. His toughest bet would be against Marciano, we know Frazier can be KO'd but Rocky never was.
I too would pick Frazier to beat Walcott... But I think Joe Louis would have beaten Frazier. Rocky would at least have a Chance as well. All great fights though
No. Frazier was perfect at 209 too, and his thick frame was ready to carry more weight his legs were very wide. Like i said no boxer under 200 pounds beats Joe Frazier
Walcott was built different,he was a ripped guy but not heavy boned. He was in peak shape at 190-195. Frazier was a natural Hw. Walcott more a cruiser despite being taller. Not a huge difference in size but enough to be a key in favour of Frazier
When Frazier was described at 209 for the Foster fight, the announcers talked about the scale being or 5 lbs. too heavy...They may have set it that way so Foster did not look too light. I think Frazier's peak was a max of 205. I do not know that Frazier & Walcott had a different bone structure. Walcott was fairly thick & wide-for his time-the difference is that Frazier had more lower body mass. Though I agree that it would be tough at least for any boxer under 200 to beat Frazier. Because he could get to them, & the best bet to beat a great swarmer is a topp slugger. It would be hard to find a slugger strong enough to do this at that size.
Frazier weighed 210 in 1967 against Marion connor. Frazier was a heavy boned guy who was naturally probably a 220-230 pounder but at boxer he was effective at 205- 215. He could carry more weight than walcott it is a fact.
I believe Frazier is just to strong for Jersey Joe. Walcott uses his masterful footwork and skill to win a few rounds but a prime Frazier grinds him down with relentless pressure.
