Yikes. He's telling people to go out and get it, keep shaking hands looking for it. Man's an idiot. An idiot with a big following, not a good combination.

Problem is that nearly 15% get so sick they require hospital treatment. If everyone gets sick at once then there'll be no hospital treatment and the death rate will soar. That's the logic of stopping crowds and events, to buy time so that 'only' 250,000 die of this and not a million plus.

According to this Dutch news site a majority of the 50 in intensive care in Holland are under 50 with the youngest being a 16 year old boy. First Italian in Lombardy to require ventiliation was a 38 yr old who ran marathons. He was on the ventilator for 18 days.

It’s not just a case of everyone get it and we’ll see who’s left standing at the end. We know most people will get it; we just don’t want that happening at the same time because that makes preventable deaths more likely due to the inevitable increased impact on hospitals. It’s relatively simple really; do you think hospitals will cope better with half a million cases across four months or the same number in four weeks.

The economic impact is something for the government to address. Take a local bar for example. No customers over the next twenty weeks is going to be a disaster but largely on the basis of them being unable to pay rent. But it’s not that the customers have gone elsewhere; to all intents for now they don’t exist. And therefore when this is over will the landlord want to start offering for other businesses to move in or the ready made successful one that was there a few months back. Dialling down financial commitments is one way that will help society return to normal when this is done.

What worries me bud is the inevitable hugely significant economic effect, which will impact on poor peoples lives many years after this. I think we’ll see a global recession. Our government will once again cut vital services to repay the national debt due to the bail outs of industries/companies.

Currently, we’ve seen 6400 worldwide deaths. A very large percentage of whom were 75+ with underlying health issues. Not playing it down, it’s terrible for the families of those people but I do worry for how this will effect the disadvantaged in the long term.

I get your point, especially with spreading the damage so to speak. Maybe I’m overestimating our resilience to it and underestimating just how debilitating it could be for the younger generations. I honestly believed that 99% of people could brush it off without any complications. I guess even the 1% that can’t would create a huge burden on the NHS.

The logic is we don't have enough ICU beds for the numbers THAT WILL get seriously ill.

People who could survive with medical care are going to die because our beds are full. We need to push back the peak and lower it much as possible so that we can built the equipment we need

And people are saying carry the on as normal.

Not my intention to scare, but there's worrying levels of ignorance around this, which in turn influence behaviour. The well meaning idiot in the video for instance, refusing to stop shaking hands because he's eager to catch this quickly.

In 6 weeks time that behaviour could be the difference between 500 and 3 thousand deaths per day. Or the difference between someone you know getting a hospital bed with a ventilator ,or a gurney in the corridor of a Travelodge.

There's a worrying misconception that everyone who this happens to will just be some old person who was nearly dead anyway. Even if we get to the point where we have two older people who may have had a further five years each and can only save one that's a human tragedy.

At the minute one of the reasons why younger people who are not at risk is because they're able to go to hospital and be treated if that was needed. If that hospital is suddenly literally full what do they do?

Eh Day will do anything for another dollar - there is no end to this man's greed.

Thousand of people will lose their lives and livelihoods and all he cares about is flogging pay per puddings.

It's a really good point which again, very few people seem to have cottoned on to as yet.

In addition to getting people properly prepared re hygeine and viral spread there need to be adverts on the web/tv/radio telling people to:

slow down and only make essential journeys. There's never a good one but this is going to be a REALLY bad time to have a car crash.

Take care on ladders, walkways, staircases etc. Postpone any non essential risky activity, social or business. Again, a really bad time to have an accident.

Stop smoking, if you can't move to vape and cut down.

Curb excessive drinking/drug taking however much you want the release, because no-one needs you in A&E kicking off because you've hurt yourself whilst off your head.

Get your diet right, exercise, sleep a genuine 8 hours a day, tablets / phones out of bedroom. Do everything you can to give your immune system every bit of help you can.

If you're doing all this you need to be telling your mates you expect them to do the same. It needs to become socially unacceptable to burden healthcare with self inflicted acts of utter stupidity at this time.

Don’t see why they shouldn’t go ahead when PPV is the main revenue stream for these two fights anyway.
