No you haven't. You seem to exist in this weird position where 'millions will die' but you're not bothered about that because? I don't know. 'Society will collapse but I'm not worried' is just a weird position to take.

Anyway, we're obviously not going to agree, but we'll be revisiting this thread a fair few times I imagine to see whether as predicted by yourself, society is still standing. I reckon we'll be fine...

Keep looking in various stores mate. Also try corner shops and Twentyman's suggestion of ethnic corner shops.

I've been reduced to baked beans on cheese and toast for breakfast due to a lack of eggs but I ain't complaining tbh. That's gold standard British cuisine.

People coming to my neighbourhood to use our shops and clear out shelfs. We as a community are coming together and only letting people who live in our neighbourhood to the shops. Sounds drastic but if it does all go to s*** then we are f*****.

I'm not letting mine, or my family or friends children starve.

    There you have it.
A local community (in London, right ?) enforcing a "locals only" policy at their 'hood shops. Tribalism in practice, due to limited resources and widespread panic. And, of course, the people coming in are being driven in by their own resources being depleted.
And people are saying that some of my warnings of what could happen are "alarmist" and "doomsday".

I live in inner London too, and this doesn't surprise me. This is the kind of thing I am seeing and feeling on my streets too.
There's trouble brewing. It gives me no pleasure in saying it.

    Good luck to everyone here.
Do what you feel you need to do.

He’s talking nonsense mate. Surely you realise this is unenforceable given nobody in ‘the local area’ knows everyone who lives in the local area?

Also - I love the last point. For a man saying all is calm, ‘do what you have to do.’

Just listen to the advice ffs, stay at home, don’t panic buy and you’ll almost certainly be fine. Your grandparents were asked to go to war. You’re being asked to sit on the settee.

Well, if that was true, they would make some mistakes then - and that wouldn't make it better at all. But people do tend to have a good idea of who and who isn't local, for example on a housing estate in London, people know who usually goes in the shops, give or take.

I don't think you really have a clue what's going on where Potwash lives. I don't think you even have any idea what's going on or the environments and communities we are talking about.
I take Potwash's word for what's happening in his neighbourhood over yours.
    Listen and learn.

Listen and learn? From idiots? What’s the point?

There are plenty of bozos down the pub all over the country saying it’s just flu and we’ll get over it and we won the war and that’s that. No point listening to them.

Yes, do what you have to do. If that means staying at home, then do that. Great. That's fine. It's all good.

But people aren't going to sit on the settee for two weeks if they've got no food in the cupboards, are they ? They are going to go outside to the shops to buy things, and they hope that there's stuff left there to buy.

And where are you sat ? Where do you live ?
Have you been to Potwash's neighbourhood lately or are you talking out of your arse ?

YOU keep going on about "the war", so maybe you're that bozo down the pub, eh ?

I don't think he is mate. Some areas in London are not welcoming to outsiders at the best of times. You seem to have lived a rather sheltered life.

Unfortunately, this was the last thing the people in Grenfell Towers heard too.
A lot of people are understandably sceptical of advice, even good advice, when what they see in their streets isn't the same as what the politicians and the know-it-alls like yourself are telling them. They tend to believe their own eyes over what someone like you might tell them.
I agree, the advice is good. But when there's no food in the shelves, people will panic. And they will get hungry.

The same Potwash who was loudly telling all the fight would go ahead as planned? The guy is clearly thicker than a Boxing Day sh*te.

But yes, I'm sure his local shop have a locals only policy and know the details of everyone in the locale in order to stop them, (by force?), when the supermarkets themselves have all already introduced sensible policy.

It sounds like Tony Hayers has never lived in an estate/scheme.

You might not know everyone who lives there but you can be fairly certain who definitely doesn't!
