How do you rank the big 5 belts in order

    Obviously the big 5 are the WBC, WBO, WBF, IBF and WBA

    WBA and WBC are top followed by IBF then WBO. I remember back in the day when it was suggested Julio Cesar Chavez fight for the WBO title at Welterweight he was confused and said “what is a WBO”?

    Honestly at this point they're all the same. I don't put any more stake in WBC over WBO. It just depends on the opponents the fighter has faced. I don't even know who has which belts.

    This. ^^ We aren't in the 1960's anymore where it was apparent which belts meant the most. Today's boxing is a completely different landscape.

    Boxing today is run as more business than a fair sport.

    They are all trash and have horrible horrible histories of corruption.

    1. Who you beat
    2. When you beat them
    3. How you beat them


    is the only thing that matters in boxing. Belts don't matter. Titles don't matter.

    The resume is all that matters, but it must be scrutinized by the above three parameters

    Even Olympic medals have them corruption issues.


    People like to say AJ's resume is better than Fury's, not really if you delve deeper.

    Nobody predicts fight outcomes based on who holds what titles/belts do they? They are irrelevant.

    Good post. Waaay too many "knowledgeable" posters use a fighting simply winning a belt to try and inflate another fighters resume.

    "Oh, he beat the WBA champ!" Unless one is the recognized world champ of the division, he beat what would essentially be just a top contender.

    The WBA is a joke...Regular Champion, Super Champion, Interim Champion,Super Duper Champion, and all their other comedy belts....

    WBO(i don't like the politics in that organization about russian boxers and russian promoting companies).

    More belts make boxing more popular.Only WBC and WBA is not better than WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO.If we have one fight for one belt and 3 fights for nothing, they will be less popular then 4 fights for 4 belts.Thinking in that logic, i wonder, maybe these WBC silver, WBA Gold, and so on, at the end are also not so bad for the sport.

    For me, this is the absolute order of the biggest 3 belts.
    -----------
    4- WBO
    5- IBO
    -----------
    WBO and IBO are really worthless in my opinion. I consider EBU better than these 2.
