Why shouldn’t judges scores be shown after every round?

As the title suggests, tell me why boxing shouldn’t have scores be available after every round?

Is it as simple as protecting corruption?

They talked about this before and I think the WBC tried something like this years ago.

The people I talked to say it kills the suspense of the decision and it can change the tempo of the fight.
But I think It's a pretty good idea.
It will help corruption in check and keep judges honest.
Plus a fighter will know if he is losing at the end which should lead to more exciting finishes.

Don't they have open scoring sometimes? I've seen a few matches done like this.

It has happened a few times but wasn't a great success. I remember a Sharmba Mitchell fight being done on open scoring (vs Reggie Green I think). The issues I suppose are that it kills the suspense and that judges are at risk of being influenced by the crowd or by each other's cards.

They had open scoring for Canelo vs Trout, after 4 rounds I had Trout clearly ahead, Then they showed the score cards that had Canelo ahead by shutout or near shutout. I knew right then that Trout had no chance at all. So I would rather just enjoy the fight and let them ruin it at the end. When Canelo is fighting you don't need open scoring, just assume if the apponent didn't mop the floor with Canelo that Canelo is going to win it.

Fighters will just try not to lose if they know they are ahead in a fight ,it would ruin the sport because it will become dictated to whoever is winning and is ahead on points knowingly where they will just try to avoid being knocked out .

Boxers don't need that extra weight on them. They just need to him out and concentrate on the next 3 minutes ahead. Completely changes a mindset knowing the score as you go

If the issue is about stopping corruption, could the score at the end of each round be collected ? Wasn’t this done in the Olympics a while back, or did l make that up !?

When scores are announced during the match, you lose the suspense of the decision and the mystery of who's winning as you are watching. This is one of the greatest aspects of boxing.

    I’m for it!

“If fighters know they are ahead they will coast” is no different then fighters thinking they are ahead & coasting.

this way if a guy knows he’s down instead of coasting he will stand & fight.

Think de la hoya vs Trimidad.
    or GGG vs Canelo II.

how awesome would those fights have been with open scoring?

how different would the championship rounds have been?

Open scoring would make for much more compelling mega fights.

They tried it before, I am pretty sure I remember they did. Not sure/can't remember what happened ever since.

Shown to whom? Television audiences? Sure. The public in attendance? Well, that makes it hard to keep the info from leaking into the corners...and therein lies pretty much all the concerns about open scoring over the years.
