Why do people feel the need to ruin my thread? I wanted a debate on how skilled he was and how he compares with guys like Robinson and Pep. Not this!

 

He couldn't beat Hagler or Hearns, and only beat Leonard because Leonard decided to brawl with him. If Ray tried to outbox and stick&move, he probably would've won the first fight.

 

He did try, and then he got dragged back into a war. Which he lost.

Learn English.
Learn about boxing.
Learn some basic manners.

No doubt!! Just noticed my “join date” for this forum is 2004 and at that point I’d already been watching Boxing for over 20 years . I wonder if young George was even a member of this earth yet I enjoy debating with George.

I was in 2004. I was born in 2003.

 

Duran is no.1 lightweight and easily top ten welterweight. Don't forget he skipped junior welterweight when he could have taken the easy route and dominated that weight class. Only man to beat prime sugar ray despite every conceivable disadvantage, except for the fact he is the better pound for pound fighter. Ray is up there too, great fighter but he's just behind Duran in ATG ranking. Most proper boxing fans and pundits/ex fighter with more credentials than you or I tend to agree.

 

But he did lose at those weights, no?
