This is really well written. Impressive organization of ideas, flow and very good writing style. I feel like a teacher giving feedback but I think it's important to recognize good writing.

You ain't just woofin'. I suppose the fact that a new lineage was established for him helps him on paper, but I don't know that two gimme fights + Kevin Mitchell and Ant Crolla warranted it, given that, say, Wlad had to go through Byrd, Brock, Austin, Brewster, Ibragimov, Thompson, Rahman and Chagaev for his lineage. Mikey Garcia would have made a much more convincing boss at 135, had he not been inclined to merely pass through the division; there's a guy who could have built a really solid legacy by now if he hadn't been so fixated on welterweight money. Oh well.

    * Ruben Olivares wasn't far removed from a stoppage loss to Arguello, which in turn only a little over a year removed from a KO loss to Art Hafey. Yet, as an underdog, he managed to blast out Bobby Chacon in two to win the WBC featherweight strap.

    * Eusebio Pedroza suffered three stoppage losses in the early stages of his career, but went on to win the WBA 126lb belt, make 19 defenses and become lineal at the weight.

The "Big O" Oleg Maskaev. He was undefeated when his management put him in with Oliver McCall, McCall KOs Oleg
in the first round. I saw the fight and thought "that's the last we will see of him". Oleg puts together a few wins and in put in
with the undefeated David Tua, Oleg boxes well but gets KOed late in the fight. Oleg then goes on a 7 fight win streak and
is chosen to be a lamb for slaughter vs the hot Hasim Rahman, except Oleg KOs Rahman with one punch, knocking Rahman
completely out of the ring. The HBO put Oleg in against the hot Derrick Jefferson, who Oleg KOs in 2.
Suddenly Oleg is a hot contender and in placed in an eliminator fight against undefeated Kirk Johnson. Oleg hurts Johnson
at the end of round one, but in round two runs into a home run left hook by Johnson and is badly KOed in two. Next fight is KOed
in two by Lance Whitaker in a pitiful performance. Surely Oleg is now done. Oleg tries to rebound by winning a couple of fights
but is later KOed by Corey "T-Rex" Sanders. OK, so now Oleg only has to be buried, right? Instead Oleg goes on a ten fight
win streak and is picked by newly crowned Champ Hasim Rahman for a revenge fight. Instead of Rahman getting revenge Oleg gives him a systematic beat down stopping him in the 12th. Suddenly Oleg is the WBC CHAMP. Oleg makes one successful defense, then loses his title
to "Swing hard and hope that you hit something" Samuel Peter. Oleg tries to come back, wins a couple of fights, but is KOed by Nagy Aguilera. Wins two more fights and calls it a career.

Simply amazing how Oleg Maskaev kept coming back from brutal KO loses to win a Title. When Oleg lost he lost badly, yet kept
    believing in himself.

I remember when people thought Vitali was done. And MAB. And JMM. And Cotto. And Mosley. And Hopkins. Actually I could be here a while.

Anthony Mundine got knocked out cold by 'feather fisted' Sven Ottke. He went on to become 2 x world champion (both times Regular SMW WBA title)
I'm not sure if people thought he was done though since he was winning the fight until the KO...but chin was definitely in question.

Those would be some of the toughest men of the last era, though. Nobody could (reasonably) describe a one of them as fragile.

Great shout, although, as I'm sure I won't be the first to point out, Steve is Welsh.

Outside World Titles, Richard Dunn, a seriously flawed, ( And floored ), Heavyweight won the British, Commonwealth and European Titles and challenged Muhammad Ali for the World Title all within a year.
Little more than a year before, he was knocked out in 3 consecutive bouts.

At bantamweight, absolutely. But he was a little more vulnerable at featherweight, when he was past prime, and could be caught and stopped.
