Did Jeffries ever fought someone bigger than himself? His crouch and body attack should do him well against bigger fighters and he wouldn't lose a lot of weight compared to Bowe.

 

Bowe outboxes Jeffries as several did ,the difference here is he would not be an old man coming out of retirement neither would he have to concede 40lbs in weight.
Jeff would be the smaller man here and his head would be getting poked off by Bowe's jab.
The second Fitzsimmons fight saw a 39years old Fitz hitting Jeffries at will,reporters remarked that had they been the same age and size Fitz would have won.As it was he broke Jeffries nose and cut him over and above both eyes.Bowe would have skill,weight , reach, and height, over Jeffries, a combination of advantages that would be completely outside Jeff's experience.
Jeffries fought with his left hand low and slightly extended relying on his shoulder to protect his chin,
to some extent that worked against the small guys whose punches he could often shrug off.
Bowe, with his height and reach would be landing his right hand over the top and Jeffries, tough as he was would not be shrugging those shots off.
If he gets inside to land his hook to the body ? Bowe is the best inside fighter I have seen of the super heavies, and the considerably bigger man.
Lopsided decision for Bowe or, if the referee is compassionate, its stopped with Jeffries banged up and bleeding.

Jefries could be " the smaller man" but he was physically much stronger solid and more robust than the flabby bowe with much more stamina

 

When did he show he was stronger against a man his own size?
Johnson manhandled Jeffries ,moving him where he wanted.

 

Fitzsimmons didn't fight like Bowe though, there is no comparison between them.

 

That was when Jeffries didn't have his stamina anymore. Using 1910 Jeffries as an example of his prime self is foolish. I can also say that Ali wasn't fast because of what he looked against Holmes.

 

Fitz couldn't box as well as Bowe ,he was over 5 inches shorter60/70 lbs lighter he was also nearly 40 years old.You're right no comparison lol


Yet he beat Jeffries up until his hands went on him.

 

He still had his strength in the early rounds did he not? Show me a fight in which Jeffries manhandles a man his own size.He only beat one of any class Ruhlin who had a panic attack .
What do you think Bowe would do with super middleweight Fitz, super middleweight Choynski,and 180+ lb guys like Corbett and 5'8" Sharkey?

 

Jeffries best weight was around 210lbs /215lbs, so he would be conceding between20/25lbs to a prime Bowe,he would also be giving away 5 inches in height,and 4 and a half inches in reach.

 

Do you think Jeffries was stronger than Holyfield?
Bowe at 235lbs, would not be flabby ,but he would have 20lbs or more on a prime Jeffries.

 

Once again, if you watch the films, Jeffries was moving Johnson backward in many of the early rounds until he gasses, being 35 and out of the ring for six years.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. You'll pick and choose the testimonials as you see fit. Jeffries was by all accounts very strong.

 

Fabrication. The first fight was not very close. If you read the write up on the second fight, two rounds were give to Fitzsimmons, two rounds to Jeffries. But you don't read or remember very well.
