Would love an away trip to Celtic/Rangers. It would also be good for us smaller clubs to have the guarantee of a full away end a couple of times a season as they worked their way through the leagues, although as money talks I'm sure the prem would find them a place in the league without them having to work there way up. I also like Moyse's idea of scrapping the league cup and having a British cup instead.
Even if they don’t officially scrap the league cup, in a shortened season clubs will inevitably just totally disregard it and play the kids.
I think we're already at the point we're clubs just disregard it as an unnecessary distraction anyway. We (Preston) played a 2nd team at home to Man City earlier in the season so it's not even like it's just the big clubs doing it.
The Snooker World Championship is off so I’d imagine the Matchroom PPV events will be called off very soon.
A new report is saying that we should be social distancing for the next 12 months so I wonder what's going to happen with that. It could mean no sport or events until spring or summer of 2021. That means no football next season either.
There was footage online clearly showing a number of Celtic FC fans in Sunderland for a friendly singing a song about the death of Lee Rigby and him not drumming anymore. Total scum
They should arrange a game just for them and encourage them to greet each other with a kiss. Then lock them in and let them rot...
The suspension (rather than cancellation) of the 19/20 season feels significant in the sense that it will be completed rather than just scrapped or (which always seemed unlikely) simply ended now. Makes sense to think more about cancelling 20/21 given there’s no clear evidence the league will be able to start in August anyway. Social distancing measures will likely be significantly affected by the ability to carry out testing. I’m reasonably sure I might actually have had the virus myself for example, (coughing out of nowhere and exactly the sort of dry cough described as a symptom, plus a fairly mild and vague but definite shortness of breath,) but it’s all so mild as to not really be sure either way. A test for that, if available, would potentially go a significant way to opening society up again.
Ludicrous that this still hasn't been postponed/cancelled officially. Absolutely 0% chance of this going ahead and everyone knows it. Is Warden trying to leave it late so that there is a loophole on refunds? Cynical approach, but honestly can't see how this has not been officially announced... there has to be an official announcement soon confirming it.
Boxrec have the date as 11 July. That’s been pushed back hasn’t it and in theory could happen, albeit unlikely.
Even if things go well, I don't think big gathering events will be back at all this summer. Pubs and restaurants might be re-opened and I suspect the large busy ones in town and city centres will have restrictions on the numbers they can serve. Might be seating only. Crowds of people in pubs standing watching sports or in the city piling in on a Friday after work, that might all be phased back in slowly. Big events, arena gigs, nevermind stadium sport and concerts, festivals, carnivals, etc. ..... won't see any of that for many many months, 2021 if we are lucky.
