We all know the wasted potential of ‘the president’.

When we compare resumes of ike and vitali, it seems that vitali is streets ahead. First and foremost, vitali actually became a champion.

but who had the better wins?

Ike- smashed undefeated vitali conqueror Chris Byrd brutally

beat undefeated David Tua in a brilliant war of attrition.

yes, vitali became a champ, finished with a fantastic 45-2 record but Ike only had 20 fights and does vitali have a win on his record as good as undefeated Byrd or undefeated tua?

I think Vitali until proven otherwise. Ike never faced a good heavyweight of that size, and Vitali knew how to subtly exploit his size.

I get that their one quality common opponent was a win for Ike and a loss for Vitali, but there was a shoulder injury, after all.

In the end, this one is a very hypothetical match-up, since questions remain about both men, Ike because his career was cut short by incarceration, and Vitali because injuries and crappy era/matchmaking prevented us from knowing his high end.

One note. If you guys remember, Ike got out for about 15 minutes in 2015, and said he wanted to fight for the title. That was when Fury had just won the title, and, whether it was rational or not, I really hoped that fight would be made. Then Ike went right back to jail, and Fury had his cocaine problem. Ike is now 50, and I don't think it is plausible for him to fight again, even if he got out today.

    Sucks.

Ike, the man, the myth and the legend.

I dont think any HW of the last 20 years gets gassed up more passionately than Ike.

Two good wins over Tua and Chris Byrd, but was never a champion. That qualifies him as being one of the ATGs according to some.

Vitali was actually a WBC champion, and defended it multiple times. He has not a complete nutcase. So actually had some longevity in the sport.

No, Vitali's best win is very talented, but 38-years-old, undertrained and 13-months inactive Corrie Sanders. Prime Byrd and prime, in-shape Tua are better wins in my opinion. But legacy doesn't work that way.

    - Ken Norton's best win is better than Lennox Lewis' best win by a country mile. Yet, nobody ranks Ken Norton ahead of Lennox Lewis in the all-time rankings.

    - Buster Douglas' best win is better than Wladimir Klitschko's best win by a counrty mile, yet nobody ranks Buster Douglas ahead of Wladimir Klitschko.

    - Max Schmeling's best win is much better than Larry Holmes best win, but do you know anybody who ranks Schmeling ahead of Holmes in his all-time list?

Vitali on points, but it would not be an easy fight.

Why are people saying Vitali on PTS etc ? The outcome of a head to head fight wasn't the question the OP posed. One guy writing a couple of paragraphs on a question that wasn't asked...

Basic comprehension of the English language seems to be amiss.

    Vitali somehow injures himself.
Ike was all wrong for Vitali.

Some argue Vitz may in fact be a crooked politician. I've seen enough negativity towards him as a politician to think it may be true.

Better be a rich crooked politician, than someone who refuses to pay hookers and then locks them in the hotel bathroom.
