No but you seem like one can't even read what I was saying, I guess you might be more stupid to believe Hopkins was actually prime at the age of 44.
You're comparing apples to oranges. Sergio martinez didn't even hit his stride until like 36. Different fighters age differently. Bhop was absolutely in his prime, while joe calzaghe was out of his prime. I believe he was like 37 - 39ish. He was also fighting at LHW when he was a natural SMW, and much smaller than bhop.
Hopkins was on PEDS without a doubt, coupled with a late start in Boxing, cheating every time it come on top..The boy maxed out in every department
He was 43 and the fight was sandwiched between wins over Tarver, winky and Pavlik. He was as prime as Joe was
Interesting that you still pick Ward with a neutral ref. His style against top tier talents relied a lot on referees not calling him on certain questionable tactics.
Ward is bigger, stronger, hits harder (though neither are huge punchers) and most importantly finds a way in any given situation. The Hopkins comparisons are wrong. Hopkins had a ridiculously low output and pooled his efforts almost wholly into gamesmanship
Point taken. Ward isn't half as sneaky as Hopkins when it comes to his various shenanigans and a neutral referee would be on his case. Still favour Ward but a DQ for Calzaghe isn't out of the question. While I agree with your pick, the bolded is what the "back in my day when MEN were MEN" crew say when explaining why Rocky Marciano KO's Lewis, Klitschko's etc.
Hopkins was beating world class fighters 5 years after this fight. He has recently come off beating a prime Antonio Tarver. Some fighters keep their ability later. Calzaghe was 36 years old himself in this fight.
There's a big difference between 36 and 43. Hopkins still had the skills but his legs , stamina and workrate was gone. 3 years earlier he couldn't keep up with the younger and faster Jermaine Taylor. He was slower and more flat footed when he fought Calzaghe.
How would Calzaghe deal with Ward’s rhythms, angles, speed of hand, feet and mind, accuracy, ring generalship and physical strength.
