Cleming, got to this last night. I recall it being a very fast-moving fight, but I also had it very close. It's a difficult fight to score because of one's preferences. I always look for good clean shots and this was a bit of a nightmare due to the speed of Crawley vs. the power of Bramble. I found the bout riding a fine line and the disparity in the scores (well, one score) shows how one can view this. Here we go, Livingstone Bramble defending his title against Tyrone Crawley. Round 1: 10-10 Even Round 2: 10-8 Bramble (scores a knockdown) Round 3: 10-9 Crawley Round 4: 10-10 Even Round 5: 10-9 Crawley Round 6: 10-8 Crawley (Bramble penalized one point for hitting after the bell) Round 7: 10-9 Bramble Round 8: 10-10 Even Round 9: 10-9 Bramble Round 10: 10-9 Crawley Round 11: 10-9 Bramble Round 12: 10-9 Bramble Round 13: Bramble stops Crawley Total (through 12 completed rounds): 115-114 Bramble Actual scores were 118-115, 117-110 and 116-114 all for Bramble. Nothing wrong with these scores. Like I said, every round was so close and rode a fine line on what your looking for. A terrific fight where Bramble was slowly chipping away at the resolve of Crawley. Well worth watching.
Both of Joe's fights with Jerry showcase the power of his right, which I place about the same level of strength-level as Ken Norton's (in other words, dangerous and debilitating, just not as cracking as Tyson's, nuclear like Shavers and Wilders', or heavy like Foreman's). It's just that Joe used the left hook so much more, and put so much of his body into it, that the right kind of paled. That said, those fights delineate that he was a massively devitalising puncher with either hand, period.
Yeah, Joe really did love his left(obviously). I was really surprised to hear he wasn't a converted southpaw.

George, not to be a poindexter, but I think you actually scored it for Patterson by a point. Which was my score also, by the way. I had it 6-5 on the California scoring system for Patterson.

Some of the rounds were close, and Avelar got the better of a couple exchanges, but it was so few and far between that it didn't amount to winning rounds. That said; this was a glorious exhibition of perfect boxing. One of the great performances in Canto's career. The Master fired on all cylinders on this night, his defence was masterful. He took about 5 shots clean the whole fight, and threw lots. Canto's offence wasn't deadly, but it was effective. The way he dictated the fight, against someone who was so much bigger was amazing. _______________________ Rd. What a fight! @Jel, you're in lockdown too, right? This is definitely one I recommend watching - sorry, I feel like I'm tagging you alot. Anyways, Yuh has some ****** conditioning. I don't know what **** they put in his cereal but he was insane. No devastating power in them shots, but that volume of punches throw right is gonna take a toll and it did here. Blanco definitely put up one helluva fight though. Imagine getting KOed by someone with a 36% KO rate. Damn, I hope all Yuh fights are like this. I'm gonna have an awesome night if they are. _______________________ Rd. This content is protected 1985-09-08, Non-Title Fight _______________________ Another amazing fight. Damn, Yuh had a such a fan friendly style. Imagine him vs Chang, Park or Gonzalez! Yuh was really skilled too, not just some tank who had combos for days. He was frighteningly accurate, had a very tight, but adaptable, guard along with unwavering ring generalship. He controlled Kong here, he didn't have say in what happened, he just obliged. Yuh was also really economic with his punches. The endless hooks were insane, they were short and precise but he could go both upstairs and down with them. His chin looks to be certified granite from these two fights. The body shot which got the KO was sickening. *In the 2nd there were two standing 8 counts, however Son also clearly went down. _______________________ Rd. I'm finding he does a similar thing to Chocolatito, in that he tends to weigh things up in the first. Shakey start from Yuh, though. Gamez' movement really gave him issues. The momentum swung pretty heavily through the mid rounds, even though Gamez took the 8th, it was virtually just a second wind. Which Yuh's ridiculous pace quickly snuffed out. Don't see how this was controversial. Gamez didn't do enough late to take this one. _______________________ Rd.
