The Baer clips are pretty funny. Someone could make a whole YouTube montage highlighting Max Baer's ****-poor defense. Not sure I've ever seen a top-level pro fighter who reacts to incoming fire so poorly.
If you can't see Galento's high ring IQ & generalship in those clips, you need to get your eyes checked!
Most of these clips shows more how Baer didn't care about defense, but it proves my point - Galento wasn't senseless brawler, he knew how to box. Actually, the first left hook against Louis looks really sharp. Quite an explosive and powerful punch, Louis took it really well. I also like double hook against Baer, looks similar to what Jeffries did against Ruhlin.

Yeah Baer's defense is terrible. He also makes zero use of his height and reach advantage. Galento had a couple of moves. The first hook against Joe is very sharp and tho i didn't clip it the one he actually knocks him down with is ,maybe the best I've seen Tony throw - extremely compact and short with perfect timing.
Yeah they say that, but if you listen to the radio commentary on YouTube it is evident it was just a hard fought fight. No booing. No terrible foul infested beat down. There was no claiming of fouls. Lou was cut on the right eye. It closed. And he was decked 4 times in 14 rounds. Galento was cut on the lip, the ear and was badly wobbled during the fight.
