NO! HE DESTROYED THEM TWO YEARS BEFORE HE GOT HIS TITLE SHOT FOR THOSE FOLLOWING TWO YEARS HE WAS RETIRED! FFS!
He wouldn't have fought him if he had ducked him. I don't see any reason to discuss about it. Feel free to disagree.
You don't need to use capslock, I understand you without it. You said that Fitz was past prime in first fight too, that's why I mentioned these two fights. Fitz was also so past his prime that after 2nd Jeffries he beat Gardner for LHW title and defended it against O'Brian.
Look old man, Fitz was as deadly as every on the comeback trail ( After losing to Jeffries ), producing a fatality, brutally KO'ing Ruhlin and waxing Sharkey in two rounds. He was obviously not past his best to get results like this vs. munch younger top opponents. Even when Fitz lost to Jeffries in the re-match, he wasn't done from beating name fighters winning the light heavyweight belt vs Gardner and Beating Jack O' Brien in 1904, which took place two plus years after the Jeffries re-match. Get your facts fight! Fitz got his re-match and wasn't an easy person to agree to terms with. Jeffries wasted to avenge a dubious draw with Ruhlin first, and fought two other times before that in 1901. Did Langford, Jeannete or Mcvey get their re-match while Johnson was champion? Lol. How about Willis getting a match period vs Jack Dempsey? Lol again. Hatred exposed, with a twist of the old double standards.
I give him credit I think he was a very precocious talent, and as tough as old boots,Neither mean he would be successful against an athletic gian,t and don't misunderstand me, I am not a Fury fan. You are the poster who referred to" 2 years before" as "just before." Right Or Wrong? Below your post "Look what Fitz did to Sharkey and Ruhlin just before this fight" Who is producing facts and who is producing slanted BS ?
It were his last fights before Jeffries rematch. Sure, it happened almost 2 years after, but it doesn't change the fact. You are extremely officious with your replies, you take every single word literally and you want to correct everybody even when it's not needed.
No.It happened 3 years and 1 month after their first fight 9th of June 1899 to 25th of July 1902.. Which makes my point even more valid! Q. If Alvarez has got the decision in the first Golovkin fight, but did not rematch him for over 3 years,by which time Golovkin is surely past his best, what would be your reaction? Q.If Wilder had not rematched Fury and Fury had retired for 3 years because he could not get that rematch title chance, then Wilder relented and gave him one all that time later what would your reaction be? Bear in mind also that Fitzsimmons was getting on for 40.
Which champiom gave rematch the former champion rematch in that era? Tunney was the second one, after over 25 years. Don't measure his choices by modern standard. Jeffries was active champion and he ducked nobody.
So it has to be in that era? Why ? Jeffries was only the 4th champion ever. BTW 4 years after Jeffries beat Fitz ,Tommy Burns beat O Brien in1906 , then rematched him in1907.Then again in 1907 ,he defended against Squires, then defended against him twice more in1908. You think 1926 is" modern"? It's 94 years ago! I think you are running out of excuses here.
