Lang was overawed at the start ,but when he realised Fitz couldn't respond as he would have in his prime,his confidence increased.Fitz went out on his shield.
Yeah, that's probably true. Fitzsimmons was 46 years old right? It just shows how special he was as a fighter. He was still competitive in 10th round and he took quite a beating before the stoppage. He was really tough man.
In colour you can appreciate much more how much overrated and archaic looked the oldest champions. These guys would not have chance againts modern champions
Fitz was 46 years old here and we only have tenth and twelve rounds available... I guess that Ali was also terrible because of how he looked against Bebrick. Ali was far youger than Fitzsimmons in this fight.
Lang was never close to become the champion. I haven't seen Foreman at 46 fighting bigger men outside in hot conditions for a full 12 rounder.
His skill was horrible his guard looked horrible and i understand why bert sugar laughed and said that roy jones would dominate fitzsimmons
