I think these guys have some things in common. Both started late. Both are 6-7. Both fighters had excellent power. Also incomplete as all around boxing ability is concerned. One difference is that Wilder didnt have Lennox Lewis to get around. I see these guys about the same level. Perhaps Grant is a bit stronger. How do you see it?
both were great american hopes in times of euro Domination. both were great atheletes that came to Boxing late and never really became smooth technitians (as could be expected). but while grant was the more complete fighter, wilder was the more powerfull Puncher by far. wilder is clumsy and sometimes downright novice like. but that Right Hand is deadly. were they to meet, i think wilder has an Edge. grant Always was a sucker for a Right Hand. and his chin wasnt that great. not a good Combo vs wilder. wilder by early ko.
No, they are completely different. 1) Wilder is much quicker and has better reflexes 2) Wilder hits MUCH harder. He scored a lot of one punch knockouts, while Grant never was one punch KO artist - he needed a lot of punches to stop guys, and most of the best opponents he stopped were stopped standing 3) Wilder has better killer instinct 4) Wilder has better chin. Well, Deontay's chin is far from good but Grant's chin was really, really bad. He was knocked down about 15 times in his career 5) Grant had better stamina and work rate comparing to Wilder. His stamina was probably his best asset actually 6) Grant could fight at the close distance while Wilder looks completely inept there So, Wilder is better than Grant in some things, Grant was better in others, but the fact is they are COMPLETELY different fighters
Good Lord. The only thing they have in common are their skin color and height. Who are you going to compare next? Larry Holmes with Calvin Brock.
PMS? I dont log on for that. Take it out on your husband otherwise add something to the thread or move along. Suprise everyone and post something worth a damn.
Add something to the thread? You mean the thread comparing a WBC champ with 10 title defenses to a guy who couldn't beat Dominick Guinn? Okay, your thread is a joke. There, I added something. You don't know anything about boxing. There, I added two things. The only thing they have in common is their skin color and height. There, I added three things.
Not big on either guy but anyone who can punch like Wilder is poison for a guy as chinny and defensively sloppy as Grant. Grant had a big heart and always tried to get up but his survival instincts were poor and his chin was diabolical. Wilder does what Wilder does. He probably looks like **** and does some amateurish moves as Grant crowds him but then he unloads a right hand and Grant goes down. Grant would get up because, for all his faults he had guts but Wilder would detonate another right on his dazed opponent and that would be all she wrote. Wilder in 1-4 rounds. Both are better athletes than boxers but Deontay at least has a fighters mindset, I’m not sure Grant ever really did.
After the IMMENSE (credibility destroying truth be told) embarrassment you've already taken over Wilder you really should think about shutting the **** up with regards to him. You've more than shown over the years it is you who knows nothing about boxing again and again and again. Your incredible build up and predictions of Wilder is just a small part the entertainment you've provided over the years. Monzon being beat by 3 of the Fab 4, Valdez, Briscoe being crap, De Jesus, Marshall, Charles, the huge building up of Cooney - the list goes on and on and on. Yet here you are provoking one of the top posters in here and of all things over Deontay ****ing Wilder!
Some posters here DKSAB, RIP Roger. Grant was just about flattened in the first round from a right hand by Andrew Golota. Lewis also totally lined him up in round one, granted he already hurt him badly. The fight would probably go something like Wilder--Breazeale and that's taking nothing away from Grant. He was better than he gets credit for today but this would be a bad matchup.
