Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali are both said to have hand speed that were way faster than all heavyweights I would like to know who is faster ? Please leave sources if possible
Tyson. Many of these questions that span decades or generations are unfair in a way. Modern day fighters have a specialised training regime, plans for each foe, strict diet ( Ruiz probably not ! ) his team would have studied opponents etc. No stone left unturned. Guys going back 30/50/80 years probably had a 'one hat fits all' approach. I know it's all subjective and a bit of fun, but it's so hard to debate in a rational way. This is a forum, I understand, so topics start to create differing opinions. Just my thoughts.
I came once along a highlight training vid of early young MT punching the bag. Here they highlighted that scene repetitive, making it more reachable. This content is protected Watching it, I somehow noticed that I had trouble counting the amount of punches Tyson threw inside that second visually, as well as acoustically. That somehow got me thinking.
Young Ali was stupid fast but id say Tyson. That being said its like saying I think Shakira was sexier than Jlo at the super bowl.
Prime Iron Mike Tyson, 1986-1990, had more power, and he was fast, but Prime Muhammad Ali, 1964-1967 had better speed, also he had footwork, reflexes, speed as mentioned, and stamina to go the distance if need be. Tyson could do more damage with his punches and he was a better finisher. Mike as seen in his title losing fight against James Buster Douglas, did not have the best of stamina, as he usually knocked out his adversaries rather quick. And in his decision win against Tony TNT Tucker in 1987, he did tire, as it was noticed. Ali could dance and move for 15 rounds without tiring, there was no Rope A Dope in his prime years, that was not until later.
