    Among older ones:

    Benny Leonard looks damn good.
    Sam Langford as a combination of resume and eye test.

    The best fighter ever was probably Harry Greb though.

    Sam Langford passed the eye test?
    I thought there's only like 20 mins of fight footage on him?

    This post is about the person who you saw, and thought had the best skillset or style you'd ever seen.
    Achievements aren't really a criteria, aside from showing they could still there style against top guys.

    McFarland and his 37 seconds of footage wowed you the most?
    Is there some sort of archive of film of these greats you guys have that I'm missing out on lol.
    Surely you guys are factoring in their achievements?
    I just can't understand calling someone the "best" not the "greatest" ever with that little footage?
    Surely someone different wowed you enough to make you look for that footage?

    Not aimed at you George as I know you've already pointed out Duran, just a question to anyone who does this.
    Haven't read the article yet but I'll be sure to, tomorrow.

    I've seen what I can find of McFarland, and I was very impressed. I agree that you do need extended footage, as you want to see the issues, variety and tendancies of someone's style and to do that you need plenty of complete fights. Back then doesn't have that sadly, but it does have near complete records. So yeah, it was kinda based of achievements. That said, I thought McFarland looked amazing on film.

    Sanchez was sooo smooth, but that man had a lot of heart when it came time to show it. I have to put him in the top 10, no doubt.

    A lot of it just had to do with the way he fought, more than how many great fighters he fought. I see him as a would-have-been, with a long title reign or three weight classes, no problem.

    Ray Leonard in that he combined speed and power along with a flashy style backed up by alot of substance.
    Roy Jones speed,power and a high boxing IQ.
    Alexis Arguello threw the straightest power punchers Ive ever seen. I really think he almost killed Rooney with that straight right.
