LaMotta (who was really a natural 168lber) would give Mayweather a nasty beating, especially if this is under 1950s era ruleset. Mayweather may have success for a few early rounds, before LaMotta's excellent (and underrated) left hand work, alongside with his sheer size and violent implementation of mauling tactics, would seriously hinder Mayweather and negate his entire fight plan. Mayweather couldn't push back Maidana ffs.

Unlike Robinson, Mayweather simply does not have the power or strength to keep LaMotta honest. Robinson was a true freak in regards to his size and the accompanying power he possessed.

Oh, and @CharlesBurley, for his best performance against LaMotta (who was also near his best at the time), Robinson was 155lbs. It is clear he was a naturally larger and stronger man than Mayweather.

Mismatch … funny how May gets matched 25-30 pounds over his best weight with Zero experience fighting at 160 himself .. What's next? matching him with Foster or Spinks at 175?

Alvarez weighed 166lbs the night of the fight against Mayweather and is a bigger puncher than Lamotta. Maidana rehydrated to 165lbs - so hes clearly as big as Lamotta and probably a bigger puncher. Cotto would have been in the 160s because he rehydrated to 159lbs when he was a 140lb champ. So all of those men were as big as Lamotta

Weight making in boxing has drastically changed. Lamotta would be a welterweight or light middle today.

Robinson still beat Lamota weighing 142lbs and Zivic beat him weighing 151lbs.

Lamotta went life and death with Zivic 4 times. Lytell beat him weighing 153lbs

Lamotta ducked Charles Burley saying 'Why do I need Charles Burley, when I can fight Fritz Zivic'. Burley ofcourse clearly beat Zivic and the decision Zivic had was seen as a robbery by many.

It's because fighters today going in the steam room, lose 20lbs and fight and rehydrate after the weigh in. Most of Mayweather's opponents will have been 160-170lbs in the ring.

LaMotta uses his significant natural size and strength advantages to keep Mayweather in the corners and outwork him for a clear UD

    Similar to Hamsho-Benitez.

then why set the catch weight? he was unwilling to fight Canelo and GGG at 160 … and he is not getting in the ring with lamotta at 160. you seem to think that weakening Canelo wasn't a huge advantage for him . if that is what you are implying? This is a MW fight 160, not a contractual weakening lamotta down to 152 bullsh*t fight

Obviously to give himself an advantage by attempting to drain his opponent. Alvarez was still both bigger than Lamotta and a bigger puncher. Alvarez at 154 would rehydrate to 170+ Alvarev was probably using loads of diuretics to **** out tons of water alongside staying all day in the steamroom. It worked for him, gaining him a size advantage over his opposition.

Mayweather would still beat Alvarez and Lamotta at 160. If a 150lb Franzie Zivic can beat Lamotta and take him to 2 more split decisions Mayweather probably pitches a shut out.

Yep a lot of "ifs" .. Again, if May wanted to fight at MW , he would have , but he passed on it … Best to stick to what we know .. Fair enough, we disagree here

You're an idiot. 168lb men today make welterweight. Lamotta was a 168lb man. Alvarez was bigger than Lamotta

Mayweather outboxes LaMotta for the first few rounds then Jake get's going and takes a UD or late stoppage.

Mayweather would have no way to hurt LaMotta, his punches would ricochet off of LaMotta's chin like 9mm bullets off of a tank. LaMotta's body attack would be unlike anything Mayweather has ever encountered. He'd be too strong in the clinches.
