Max Schmeling of the first Joe Louis ft against Foreman of the Moorer ko?
Can max, in excellent condition beat the much older man here?
Or does Foreman get the drop on him?

If Tommy Morrison can stay out of Georges way , so can Max

Tommy had power to keep Foreman busy, who might pressure Schmeling without much risk.

Max would box circles around Foreman, but it's possible that at some point George could catch him.

I wouldn't underestimate Max power. Holyfield earned George respect, so could Max.

Schmeling would butcher old Foreman, doing him a lot of damage, but not quite putting him away.

It would not be a nice fight to watch.

1990 Foreman would rag doll the overrated German and then knocks him out

Tommy Morrison was 6'2 227 pounds of muscle and did hit harder than Tyson, schmeling is a "skilled"midget . Foreman would not respect his power at all

I understand that Old Foreman beat Moorer, but Moorer was winning quite handily up to the knockout.

As for Foreman not respecting Schmeling's power, he will need to, or he is going to be in trouble.

Schmeling might not have been a spectacular early round finisher, but he stopped some very durable fighters, by playing pull the wings off the butterfly.

Qawi, bert cooper, moorer all them world class(at hw or not) and were much heavier than schmeling on the ring when they faced Foreman. No 188 pounder is beating any version of Foreman, good try

Apart from Moorer, they were not world class when Foreman beat them.
Prime Foreman was one of the best fighters to hold the lineal heavyweight title, and old Foreman was one of the very worst.

A lot of 188lb fighters could have beaten that version of Foreman.

A lot of light heavyweights could have beaten him!

A 188lb version of Moorer would have done it, if he had a better chin!

Why did he do that against Holyfield then?

There is one concern - George has clear height and reach advantage. I don't think that Max had great style against much taller fighters than him. Also, George uppercut would be very dangerous for Max.

On the other hand, Schmeling would likely land his right counter at will against much slower George. Interesting fight against two of my favorite fighters ever
