Floyd did beat a prime version of Cotto.

Cotto was 3 years younger than Mayweather and hadn't been fighting as long. If he was past it what does that make Mayweather?

Cotto had received two vicious beatings and would lose to Trout in his next fight.

Furthermore, why was Cotto that good anyway? Barely got past an old Mosley, beat a broken Margarito and a shot Martinez. Zab Judah, was coming off a NC and then back to back losses and Joshua Clottey, who was basically Pacquiao's punching bag.

What's left is a sea of average contenders and media hype.

No you simply don't understand weight making in boxing. Mayweather weighed less in the ring than Hatton. So 147 favoured Hatton more than Mayweather. Mayweather would have to cut less weight and be more comfortable at 140 than Hatton would be.

I haven't see anyone say Cotto was great. Definitely a good fighter, though.

Corrales and Castillo were probably his best wins. P4p rated bigger guys in their prime. Corrales was his most impressive performance imo.

Mosley and DLH were past their best, but also bigger and coming off good performances. The Maidana wins gets underrated, I think. A younger much bigger opponent riding the crest of his career. Tough match-up when you're in your mid 30's.

And then were many other good belt holders and contenders. He doesn't have the top wins like Duran or Leonard have, but not many have.

Don't know where I'd have Floyd. Top 20 sounds reasonable. I'd listen to a case for the top 10 as well. But I suppose you can find at least 20 guys with a decent case to be ahead of him as well. Been many great ones over the years.

Seriously, the argument is 'Hatton was better draining 15lbs of body waterweight so he could be the bigger man at 140 and he was disadvantaged coming up to 147 to face Mayweather who fought at 147lbs and would have to lose less weight than Hatton if the fight was at 140lbs'. And then, and then, he says I don't know what I'm talking about. Because maths.

Which of them looked good? Loughran didn't, Walker didn't. Tunney looked decent but he lacked.

And he could have beaten both of those guys. But he obviously wasn’t 100% confident in doing so.

What's all this talk of 'Which prime opponent has Mayweather beat'. Yet everyone groupwanks over Robinson who's opponents look like **** on film bar Gavilian. Mayweathers opponents on film as a collective are way better than Robinsons opponents

Why not call them on the offer then? They were all cowards and knew Burley was their daddy. Robinson included

Put it this way. Robinson wasn't confident.

I think it should be said that the offer to Robinson was for a fight 12 days after his scheduled bout with LaMotta. Was that really a serious offer or a way to make some headlines? Why 12 days after a LaMotta fight? That would mean that Robinson would either have to cancel the LaMotta fight (and that would probably have come with a fine for breach of contract) or taking on two world class MWs 12 days apart.

Canelo wasn’t prime and he fought him at a C-W.

He also fought Hatton at WW.
