Does anybody else miss the Klitschko era ?

Is it just me, or are the same people who complain the "Klitschko fights often weren't competitive" defend completely unnecessary fights like Wilder vs. Szpilka or Fury vs. Schwarz?

 

Vitali beat the best version of Arreola. By the time Wilder fought him he was done as a contender, and only got a title shot because he was washed up! Wilder fans need to be careful not to troll Arreola.

 

I remember people saying that. Was nonsense to it. No one cared to see Byrd v Lewis. After the Vit fight, he got flattened by Wlad and didn't have a major win until he got by Tua. At that point, Lennox had fought lost and regained his title to Rahman, then fought twice before retiring Tyson and Vit. Byrd was just an odd man out. Networks didn't want him.

No, this era is better. Fury, Wilder, Joshua, Whyte, Ortiz, Parker, etc. ARE FAR BETTER heavyweights than freaking Kevin Johnson and a middle-aged former light heavyweight and cruiserweight beltholders.

That era all but made the heavyweights a joke for a whole generation of fans who started watching the sport at that time.

It's taken years to recover from that dismal era. But now we're getting heavyweight fights people actually care about again.

I'm sure you're probably bored sitting at home. But this whole thread is a joke. The Klitschko era was terrible. The people who claim to "miss it" are just arguing to argue.

 

Arroela trained on a diet of tacos and beer back then , he wasn't committed to training. He changed his ways and trained like a professional for his second shot at the WBC title so you could say Stiverne fought the same , if not a better version of Arroela.

How do you know Gomez wasn't in his prime. for his fight with Vitali? He was on a 9 fight winning streak.

Now you trapped and you don't even know if. If Adamek was past his prime at age 34, which win over a ranked opponent in his prime does Fury have? ZERO!!! Wlad was 39, Wilder a hype job was 35.

And the same question for Wilder, which win over a ranked opponent in his prime does he have does he have ZERO!!! Ortiz was 38-41. Stiverene was age 36.

And most importantly Vitali was in late 30's to early 40's when he beat the below men in title fights. In other words he beat younger men that were ranked when he was well past age 34, hardly losing a round in the process.

I understand people liking them as ‘people’ and being fans, but come on. Their fights were generally dull, uncompetitive and that’s the way they liked it.

I understand fully why they have fans. They come across as gents (secret egomaniacs) and all this, but it was truly awful.

the heavyweight division is alive again. AJ v Fury will probably be one of the biggest fights in history.

 

The sport was pretty stale tbh Pac-Man and mayweather keeping the life in the sport, the heavyweight division was struggling
